JVC Camera & MOD files???

Anyone have problems with MOD files from JVC HDD camcorders?
So far in order to have them play on my Mac, I need to convert them using the Any Video Converter, but after I convert them they look like shit. Anyone else have problems with JVC MOD files and have solutions to get them to play on a mac and usable in iMovie?
 
I did have this exact same problem. However, I have no idea how I fixed it anymore, or where my camera is for that matter.
 
I have the same problem with my JVC HDD, I want a good converter so it's not shit in sony vegas pro 8
