First of all I already like Sal and think he gets a bad rap, for really know reason, the guy is a legitimate surfer, skater and snowboarder. If you check out the surf movie "fly in the champagne" you can see him shredding waves indo at the end. Anyways today i listened this podcast that he was and learned a ton about his life and career. I highly recommend everybody checking this out, he tells some really cool and funny stories

ive never really had a problem with him, i guess i just though he was kinda lame cause everyone always makes fun of him and i didnt know anything about him

Just finished the whole thing. Fucking awesome. Loved it. Learned a lot more about him.

I've been watching xgames since I was 7 I think. Dude has been the man. Unfortunately I hate a lot of shit about xgames these days. In that interview it sort talked about having random people announcing that don't know shit about it. And also they have to announce it for the noob, that's their target audience. some of the announcing pisses me off.

Sal is the dope shit. Thanks for posting. One of the first long things I've gone through on this site that's been 100% worth it.

hugh is a fucking awesome dude. his music played a big role inthe struggle against the apartheid government in south africa.

and his son just so happens to be that one black dude at x games....
 
Watch the old Tony Hawk Gigantic Skatepark Tour vids. He was on all the tours announcing, and is quite funny. Dude legitimately loves skateboarding, and is actually homies with a lot of the dudes in the sport. Sal is the man.
 
His job is to commentate on sports in a way that people who aren't involved in the sport will find interesting. Because of this, he often sounds kinda dumb to us. Mike Douglas has to do the same thing (however, hate on him and I'll hunt you for sport)
 
The biggest reason people bitch about the commentating is because they explain it in detail and try to get new fans. People complain about how they show it slow mo and talk about technicallity. They do it so the people who have no idea whats going on can understand why a cork 12 would be harder than a backflip.
