definitely gaming... i mean gotta rep my middle school roots... but also plenty of video editing, media shit including photoshop some music editing... and my favorite by far.....

MINESWEEPER!

WOW. Poast pics of you putting it together. I wanna see this beast when it's done. Very relevant to my interests.

sounds like a beaut man.
i built the one i am on right now in fall. all parts from newegg, and its a monster. Almost the same as yours, save a few differences. gaming and rendering and arch modeling, whatever - doesn't even show a hint of being bogged down.

I use a 10 gb quad core mac pro at school and rendering takes under a second, on my macbook with 3gb ram and single core? 5 minutes. Need a quicker computer!

IMA OC my i7 like a mofooo... maybe get a zalman or something maybe liquid cooling... get it over 4ghz. ye ye.

get those ram timings right

Damn wanna ship that beast to my house? my 8800gt (that was already old) just died and now im runnin an even older Radeon 2600xt! i could really use some extra cash.....

Despite the small need to OC an i7, I know exactly why you want to do it =P

Why are you looking at a zalman later if you are getting the coolermaster now? Get that all copper zalman right off the bat sonnn!

The ram you chose is boss too, and coupled with the simplicity of OC'ing ASUS boards, you shouldn't have any problem getting over 4ghz.

shoot dude too sickjust bought a disk for mine.. thing got blown somehow. aswell as one of my 9800 gt.. good thing nvidia's tech support department rockkss

looks dope, now wait a year or two and youll see how much better technology is. my computer i built for the same price 2 years ago is lookin slow now:(

I built this rig 2 years ago, and I can still stand by it and smile.

My snappy little dual core @ 3.9ghz is more than enough for my computing/gaming needs, so it's my graphics card that I will probably need to change first.

I can run Crysis maxed out, but that's at 1680x1050. Within the year, it would be nice to get a third monitor that displays above full HD resolution, but I would have to get another video card so I can play hard.

i attempted to follow this thread, then my head started to hurt from all this nerd talk, then i saw the pictures, then i loled

sooo you guys are just like me and my friends, only, we do cars not fancy computers haha

i guess its whatever though, you guys dont give a shit about stroke and camshafts and exhaust back pressure, stuff like that, but i have no idea what ram even is haha

OC is short for Over-Clocking, its like pushing components passed the speed the factory designed them to run at. so you can over clock a 3.2 ghz processor higher, to say 3.5 ghz, but it creates more heat and stress on the component.

its pretty advanced, ive only tried to overclock my processor

thats a hell of alot of power for 1300 bucks, my gaming computers barely a year old and its already so outdated : (

yea i feel that... my first upgrade will probably be a new PSU so I can put in another HD5850 and put those babies in crossfire... and then maybe raise the voltage on my RAM and get my timings to be badass...

cant wait to use my badass ASUS mobo to clock my i7.... MMMMMM i77777777

i built this comp last year, very similar to yours. best decision ever. its such a dream to work on, its soo damn fast and i have had absolutely ZERO issues with it since ive bought it. plus, for everything, including a monitor and printer/scanner, was less than 900 bucks. you cant beat that.

Noob question: What does that require, is the just built into the motherboard or do you need to run some wires, what are advantages dis advantages of having two GPU's? Do you need to do anything to the drivers or anything.

My dad built my last 2 computers, and he always buys from newegg. The one i'm on now is a BEAST. All the best parts on the site, amazing video card and processor, and the best part is the 29" HDMI monitor

fuck reading this thread again makes me want to build a computer even more now

nah, this computer definitely won't get slow any time soon...

but it will get outdated, which scares me

just think about it... how much farther can technology go? shits already running at incredible speeds, it cant get much faster. and things are getting so big and cheap, like 2TB 7200rpm HDs for dirt cheap, whats next? who needs more than 2TB, honestly? like it has to stop somewhere, right?
