Jumping off a chair lift anyone?

Anyone got any funny chair lift experinces that you'd liek to share? i personally have jumpe 15 feet from a chair lift to get my ski that fell. and got kick off the mountain for it i mean comon how was i gunna get my ski that was half way down the run on one ski

I saw a dude try to jump off a chair from around 15-20 ft to about 30cm pow. he was on the chair by himself so when he pushed off the chair swung back which made him end up falling horizontal to the ground into an epic 15-20ft faceplant

Hahah, reminds me of what my cousin said to someone who tried to put the bar down on him.

"Let me ask you a question, when you sit down to eat a turkey sandwich at home, are you afraid of falling out of the chair?"

"No,"

"THEN WHY ARE YOU AFRAID NOW?"

once the lift was going really slow and i was right over part of the pipe so it was just a 7-8ft drop so I jumped and then some old guy got all ski patrolly on me.

I've jumped off a few times. Well, twice actually. The first time was when I was up north. We were probably only like 10 feet above 3-4 feet of untouched powder, so me and the girl I was riding up with decided to jump off and ski the powder down, definitely worth it. The second time, the char had just taken off and there is this wooden sign that people always hit with their poles and shit. Well I wasn't thinking and I hit it with my ski, which caught on part of the sign. It pulled my ski off haha so a second later I was just like, fuck it, and jumped off. It was probably a good 15 foot fall or so onto crud. The fall kinda hurt but not badly at all, got my ski and went and got back on the lift haha.

SAME THING HAPPENED TO ME MAN!

got pissed because my friend went to the slowest chair at the mountain and decided to jump off and ski the freshies below

once my friend tried to jump off the chair into some pow it was like a 15 foot drop, so he put the bar up and just as he jumped the bar fell down and he close lined himself and was left hanging by his stomach on the bar

Skiing down with one ski really isn't that hard. i only jump off at places where i don't have a season pass and where its not too high.

haha last time i tried doing this it didnt work out so great...

my friend went first and once he jumped off the chair started bouncing a shitload and since i was leaned forward watching him it threw me off and i landed on him. it hurt and we never did it again.

yea i cant. i actually street luge, i just come onto a freeskiing community for fun!

jumpin is fun

and skiing on one ski is still not that hard.

I was riding up a slow chair (we call it the couch) with two friends of mine, john and megan, but john didn't like megan. So we get to a point in the ride that passes over a small cliff section and as I am turnrd the other way john jumps off and megan and I ride the rest of the way up. Honestly, I used to not like her either, but she is ok now. Could not believe he just bailed though.

The best/most rewarding time to do it is on wicked powder days, especially if the lift line is closed all the time (like Bromley), so sick. Stowes also got a great place to drop into some nice terrain.

over spring break our chair broke down for about ten minutes. So some 73 year old guys decides he cant wait for 10 minutes and jumps down 20-25 feet to moguls(not very soft) and breaks his arm.like wtf was he thinking. At that age you could barly withstand a 5 foot drop.hes just lucky thats all he broke.

haha ive had to do it before. sucked. had to ski down a steep ass hill with moguls to try to get my ski that unclipped from the lift.

not that i put the bar down, but to answer your question:

When youre sitting at home or anywhere else, your feet are planted firmly on the ground, offering support to your lower body. When youre sitting suspended in the air, your lower body is pulling the rest of you down cuz theres nothing supporting it.

just some food for thought.

i was at ottawa for a comp, and crichton was there judging, neways, he was going up the lift in front of us, and randomly, he puts up the bar, pushes away from the chair, jumps off, does, a 180, and lands on a roof of a hut thats sloped parallel to the hill. id say it was about 10- 13 feet from the chari to the hut, and then about a 7 or 8 foot drop off the slope on the hut to the ground. crichtons the man.

you have nothing supporting your feet. Lets say you reach down to get something from your ski there is nothing supporting your foward motion. or lets say you drop a glove and instinctivly reach out and grab it. or lets say the lift stops suddenly.

Today I saw a little kid fall a good 15 feet to flat ground. He was there for two runs and I didn't see him moving until he got sledded away

Last year on MLK weekend the lift lines at west vaginas most accessible ski area were longer than a football field. After finally getting on the lift the Goddam thing kept on stopping. It had stopped about 12 or 13 feet above the ground. The stupid tween gaper girls I had gotten stuck with on the lift were more annoying than nails on the chalk board. I calmly asked them to lift the safety bar up. I put both my poles in one hand and jumped out. The chairs parallel and behind scream because they thought I fell out. I skied away like a bad ass. I then hiked to the park. MLK weekend sucks gigantic balls.

crazy easy to do. I use to do it for fun when I was like nine...I saw a kid pull a sw 7 and his ski fell off in the air, he still landed...skiing 1 ski is so easy.

this isnt about chairlift.... but about losing my ski....the tip completely broke at the very top of squaw valley last year...so i skied all the way down to the bottom with one ski

HAHAHAHAHA

before i was tall enough to get on the chair by myself, my mom would have to pick me up onto the chair. her shoulder was fucked up for a long time and would drop me on occasion flat on my face on the frozen pond...that ruled.

ive only done it once.. it was on the back side of the mountain where its pretty dead and one of the lifties got on the chair with me, then like 20 feet up the lift hes just like "cya" and jumps off into about 2 feet of powder, so i kicked of both my skis and did the same

I actually did that in third grade. I was banging snow off my skis on some gapers and one fell off. karma. but i made it down the mountain just fine.

well, jumping off the lift is fun, as long as you dont jump more than you can handle. and when theres nice snow under you, its a great idea. or you could be like idiot ski racers at my home mountain

the one girl pushed the other on the chair after they'd put the bar up, and she fell off the chair. it would have been more than a twenty foot drop onto rocks, but she grabbed onto the foot rest, and the other girls had to hold on to her to keep her from falling. it was like that till they got to the very top where they could eventually let her go and go change their underwear.

had to do it when i was 8 and taking lessons. it sucked. i didnt get off the chair in time and wound up 15 feet in the air too scared to move. my instructor was yelling at me and called me a pussy and i finally jumped off after 10 minutes and it wasn't nearly as bad as i thought it would be. wouldn't want to do it again though.

Ive jumped off the chairlift probably like 3 or 4 times. one day my boys and i were bored so we decided to jump off and we went down and everything was fine, the next run two of my boys decided to do it again and ski patrol was hiding in the trees wating for them. ski patrol chased them down the mountain and they both got their season passes taken and were arrested on charges because you put everyone on the lift in danger when you jump off or some bull shit haha
