Any of you currently a park builder and snowcat operator ? Looking to build a jump this year, 60foot with the steepest landing without winch. Already built a 34º landing last year but I want to know if more is possible. Thanks !
 
You can build a landing as steep as you want if you push snow downhill to build and just down pass it every night.

A normal jump line should be able to be groomed just fine with a free cat. Winch is for building it and maybe some serious mid season tune ups.

Still think its better to winch any large jump with a steep landing daily. To me consistency is one of the most important things in a good jump or jump line. Hard to get this if you don't winch every day. Not everyone has that luxury but if you can I think its important.

I’m pretty sure no park out there had a winch on hand daily, or a park specific winch. And if some park does, what a waste of money.

What parks have jump lines that really need a winch day once a week? Mammoth? Breck Dew Tour? Copper? Vail burton open? Aspen X Games?
 
Well we do and it make a massive difference. No big rebuilds or changes just consistent steep landings every day. Even our medium line gets winched most nights but that’s more due to traffic than pitch. Would like to see you maintain our Big Air jump for even a week without a winch. When you get to a certain size and pitch you need it. Especially if you have variable snow conditions like we do.
