JPI.5 ??

i can't remember where, but unfortunately heard from somewhere or someone that it isn't happening this year. I've been to all 4 and this is really disappointing.

There will be a JPI.5 this year. But it wont be a big Pro contest spectacle like before. After the success of the public jib arena last year the event is taking a big turn of direction. Instead of putting so much effort and resources into a contest you stand around a watch we are focusing on all of the local riders. The idea is to put up a bigger and better public jib arena as early in Oct as possible and have contests and events going down all weekend for the local riders. Things like the best trick cash we did for the pros we'll transfer directlywith a the public version. It will all be very chill..no bibs..no start lists.. There will be some sort of team video contest too so start getting your crew together. The event will now basically be to give back as much as possible to our loyal local shredders. Details are still in the works so keep an eye on the website for info as we post it or better yet sign up for on new txt alerts and you wont miss out.

"that would be dope if they did..Cause Tahoe doesnt get any love"

what do you mean tahoe doesn't get any love? Tahoe has tons of cool events all around. Plus your jaw would hit the ground if you knew how much we have invested in JPI these last 4 years.

Yeah JPI was the best thing we had and I'm greatful that you guys did that for all those years. And now I am even more pumped on the new format. Boreal is so legit more resorts need to do things like this.

i actually thought about this idea last year as well... so many peeps dumped in on that public jib park last year.. I bet it would be straight mayhem if they threw down an open anti-comp format.

yes...check the website next week for full details.

but here's the teaser---sponsors are coming through and there will a load of cash for best tricks and a load of cash for best team/crew video. The date is up to mother nature as to when we can make the snow but 3 yrs in a row we've been been able to make snow the first week of October. In light of that the date will be announced when we actually start making the snow So get your new kit ready, your sticks waxed and your crew ready for a filming/editing battle.

its an anti contest...so no divisions...no bibs...no rules..we are just going to give out whatever we got on the spot to who ever stokes us out for what ever reason. The video contest is open to both ski/snowboard but no decsion has been made on if we are going to seperate ski and snowboard or cash break down or if its winner take all...I'm leaning towards winner take all and no seperation of ski/snowboard and a 36hr turn around from the end of riding to the deadline to submit your team 2-3 minute video. it will all take place over a two day period. the rough plan is to run the event the first sat/sun after we make snow...should by chance we actually make enough to open the chair, then the event will the first friday night after we open. the press release will be going out sometime next week with as much detail as we can provide....but by nature this event wont have many rules, will happen on the fly based on our ability to make snow...and is all about getting our loyal Tahoe area locals on snow as early as possible. the event is about giving back to you guys and not about making a spectacle about watching pros shred from the sidelines.

haven't decided on that.. I think 3 is probably reasonable anymore and the prize money may be diluted. As of right now we are working with $2k for the vid contest. $2k winner take all...what do you guys think? If more sponsors come on board that $ could go up. And we will give out the $2k for best tricks just like we did with the pros but instead of $100 a pop it may $20 or $50 so we can spread the wealth better. Opinions???????????????

Maybe teams of 5? including a filmer

like 4 riders and the filmer

and maybe have a requirment to have one girl one each team, i remember the battle arena comp boreal did a few years ago each team had to have a girl, and it makes things more interesting that way

and im sure however much you choose to hand out for trucks people will be pumped

everything sounds so sick!!!!

i think 3 people to a team whoever you want girl/guy ski/snowboard leaves it open enough. So anyone can be on any team. and cant wait for cold weather now!

Boreal Rulez

as if you could wait as it was? this def does make me a lot more anxious, thats for sure! I say teams of 3 riders + filmer, winner takes all would be cool. the laid back format should make for the best comp EVER! Eric, ill say it again, i love you!

the idea of having a film contest is cool, but I dont think it would really work. Not to hate or anything but, from a filmers perspective that would be absolute hell. I have been at boreal for opening day for the past 8 years running and the number of people that show up is absurd. All shots would be filled with people, equipment would get run over, and truthfully, all shots would end up being follows... not the most exciting nor professional especially considering it is a film contest.

The fix? have the best trick one day and the film contest the next, and give the teams a separate time to do their thing. The number of teams entering will probably be lower than the number of individuals, thus spreading out the chaos on the opening day "patch"

just something to think about, because I dont want to be trying to film an edit for a video contest and not be able to do it properly.

doesn't help me.... should I just tell the airline that use of my ticket depends on mother nature and Boreal's decision on those circumstances.... I think they would deny such a request.
Don't be a silly Sasquatch Jamie!! I want to come shred with all my friends.

are we talking a signup type thing. if i still want to come just to get some jibbing in without wanting to compete can i do this?

The only sign would be to register your team for the video contest. Other than that its just going to be a super radical fun jibbing/jumping preseason fiesta.

Ok..we had our meeting this morning and we have alot of definitive info for you guys about JPI. I just got down off the mtn from another project and too cooked to transfer the notes from the meeting..dont want to mess it up. I promise I'll clean up the notes first thing in the morning and post them here and on www.borealterrainpark.com.

We added a few extras in today that I really thing are going to knock your socks off in addition to whats been discussed here already. And just so you know, we are still working on partners to boost the prize pool so everything I post tomorrow is the bare minium and still likely to get sweeter as the event nears.

just hang in one more night.
