Whats better for general big mtn skiing and pow.I want something thats easy to manouvre around chutes ect. i know they will both float really well so waist isnt a problem. I'd like some nice graphics but performance is more important.

ok well if u want the sick graphics and the proformance ide go for the k2 made'N Ak the top sheet is sick and the base it great to i mean its possible 1 of the gretest big mountain skis ever created. so buy them

my local shop just got a pair of jp vs julien in and i must say, that is a very sexy ski. its pretty massive, yet so fucking light! idk, both good skis, but like i said, the jvsj's were extremely sexy...

^thats what made me look@ them. They weigh like nothing. jp's graphics are pretty sick too.

personally i would go jp vs juliens....super light, higher tail than tip, sick graphixxxxxxsssssszzzzzz

this guy is true^. it really depends on what type of big mountain you do. drops and cliffs and stuff that beats up your ski, you should probably go with the made'n. fairly punk rocker in the sense that it can take a pretty big beating and keep goin hard.

the JP/Juliens from my understanding, are alot more of a backcountry ski. its super light, soft, and a bigger tail. this leads me to believe its made for BC booters and such. im sure it has fine durability coming from armada, but not as good as the made'n.

mostly pow, BC and BC booters- JP Juliens

rocky shit, big drops, pow, knar- made'n

what will be better for general big mtn skiing. tight chutes, rock drops ect. i know they will both be sick for BC kickers and cliffs. and i want to b able to use it if we havent had a big pow dump.

Your all moron's.. the word graphics came up waaayy to many times for this ... I hope all of you pick a ski on graphic's and all end up with maidens and invader's.. have fun.

Looking at the numbers on the JP I question it's overall performance. THe K2 seems to have way more sidecut, whereas the JP has...like none. THe tips and tails on My last years ARV's are pretty much the same dimensions as the JP, and my waist is 13 mm slimmer. Maybe this is a good thing, could be a horrible thing to though. Never skiied them so I can't honestly say. Just something to consider.

So... your theory is that having more sidecut make a ski better?

I hope not.

the jp's are not that stable on groomed runs or even slush, i have the madens and they rock. the jp's as of last year were way softer, and even tho they came in a 191 the 179 maden was more stable. i use my madens as a park ski. get madens

No my point is that the JP seems like one of those skis that really has only one purpose. BC Booters. Unless the snow is pretty deep/soft this ski would probably suck. On anything hard at all it would probably ski like a 2x4. the ANT's also, I feel, fall into this category. Now I am not saying I know this for a fact, so don't get your panties in a twist, I am simply wondering if anyone has skied the JP's and ANT's as well as the Vicious and Made'ns, and can give me a firsthand experience to either validate, or negate my claims that the JP and ANT are very non-versatile skis in comparison with K2's powder/big mountain offerings.

i always thought of the jp's as a more powder only ski considering there's barely any sidecut, for the more occasional inbounds skiing but mostly bc go with made'ns

To the dude wanting answers, listen to people who have ACTUALLY skied on the skis in question. When they describe their build and ski style and the way they found the skis to be, then you have a legit opinion.

The MADE'Ns are much more worthy than any picture that could be placed on top. Hopefully you can try both and make your purchase.

the jp has little side cut, but that does nt matter if u acctually took the time and learned how to carve a proper turn and stay forward

Yeah... I'm going to have to suggest you ski the things before you decide how they ski. I don't have Made'ns, just JPs and Pistols, but Luke (Vicious) owned both all last season and is now a big fan of the ANT as well. Just because it's got a straight sidecut doesn't mean it'll ski like a "2x4". There is a place in the perfect quiver for a near-sidecutless ski, I'm sure Iggy and Luke would agree with me on that.

JD is right. Having a ski, particularly one that is used in powder, with little sidecut is nice.

My Pow skis are have almost not side, very straight skis. In pow, having little sidecut means your skis won't get caught up in cruddy snow and allow you to turn or not turn however you want.

If he is looking for a pow only ski, the JP would be dope. I wouldn't mount on the line, though.

Versatility wise, and this is mostly because the JP doesn't have as much sidecut, the Made'n will be more versatile.

But saying skis with little sidecut can't carve. You just have to work it a bit more.

And don't say bad shit about the ANT, that ski will kick you ass.

Agreed. I will say that I think both the Vicious and Made'n are more 'versatile' sticks than the JP due to their sidecut and from personal experience on them. I have not yet skied the ANT, but plan to pick up a pair soon. The JP is actually a very agile ski and is fairly easy to power because of it's soft flex. The ANT, on the other hand, is much more burly, so it's not going to be as versatile.

That being said, I have also racked up plenty of days on the JP and although it won't 'carve' on the groom like the Vicious or Made'n, it excels in it's own ways. Anyone aluding to the fact that a ski lacking sidecut sucks should think again. Skis without sidecut excel in pow.

For those who aren't lucky enough to have a multiple ski quiver, a Vicious or Made'n would be a better purchase in my opinion, but for those that can, having a long ski with little to no sidecut is a great weapon for certain days.

Thanks guys, since this will be used pretty much everywhere on Treble Cone(a mtn here with heaps of steep sick terrain, pow,BC booters ect) and not just after big dumps i think i'll get the made'n as i want this ski to be big but still able to perform out of pow. Unfortunately i don't have a quiver so it needs to be a ski thats not only good in pow and BC booters.

oh and for size: im 182cm(a cm under 6') tall and 70kg(about 160lbs i think) should i get 179 or 189? keep in mind im from NZ and we dont get enormous 2m dumps overnight often(but it does happen occasionally) and remember i want to use it alot, not just after big dumps. I have 179 fujas @ +7.5 and they dont seem long so i was thinking of a 189 mounted at at least +5 (will it still be good in pow) Cheers guys.

I'd say get 179s... They'll be fine for pow days, and they're just generally easier to handle and will feel better in a variety of applications. Hell, you could use them for park. You COULD get 189s, it's not out of the question, I just think you'd get more out of the shorter length.

thanks, i'd only get a 189 if i was sure i could handle it and still ski it everywhere. i dont intend to use this in park as i have 179 fujas. will this seem longer than fujas as its alot bigger dimentions?

Obviously it'll seem like quite a bit more ski, and it's stiffer, though still not really stiff... so yeah, it will. How much longer would depend on where they're mounted. Further up feels shorter for obvious reasons.

i just realized JPs have less edge material to reduce the weight. I would stick with the pow on them because that would suck to hit something hard and ruin such a dope ski
