Jonny Moseley interview discussing the evolution of slopestyle

It is cool to hear his opinion on where freestyle skiing is going from someone who has seen the evolution of the sport from its beginnings. I agree with him the the level of skiing in competitions is at such a extreme level that it isn't really relevant to the average skier anymore and that something new will eventually evolve from the current form of freestyle skiing.

Moseley was probably the best all-around skier in the world at one point. Gold in the Olympics, won some slopestyle competitions, revolutionized mogul skiing, and unlike many of the freeski stars of today was a dominant big mountain skier. Watch The Realm, a TGR movie from back in the day, and you will see him trading AK lines with Jeremy Nobis and Jeremy Jones and holding his own. He absolutely killed it in big lines, which is not surprising considering he grew up skiing Squaw. I remember McConkey mentioning Moseley when asked about who he thought the top guns in the sport were. It is a shame he is not in the industry any longer.

I was shooting for Poor Boyz and writing for Freeskier Mag in the early 2000s when I heard a rumor that Jon Olsson was asked who's skills and talent he was particularly impressed with, and he mentioned Jonny Moseley. Apparently, the two rode together briefly and Olsson was totally impressed with the amount of natural talent Moseley had. I don't doubt if for a second.

Go back to Scott Gaffney's movie from 1997. I think it's called Breathe. but i could be mistaken on the title's name. anyway, Moseley has a park segment where he's doing 1080 mute grabs, inverts in the pipe and backflips. totally ahead of its time.

I totally agree with Mosely when he says slope style and pipe are becoming unrelatable, as a guy who missed the park craze watching the X Games is not as enjoyable as it was when it first started. That being said I don't know where progression will take us, it's true they can't keep making bigger jumps and throwing more flips. This is just what I gathered out of this interview.
