Jon Olsson competing in the Olympics?

I am somewhat surprised nobody has mentioned him regarding the Olympics. If someone has, I apologize, I have searched using the bar.

Jon could compete in 3 events, even more with all of those crazy racing events that happen.

Do you think he will compete in Slope? Haven't been to his site in a while, maybe I should have started there..

probably only racing. Olympics doesn't have big air.... he hasn't done pipe in a long ass time.. and when was the last time you saw him so something technical/steezy on rails?

I think he is defiantly talented enough, and would love to see it happen. but the olymics are so far away, and skiing is sport that turns over athletes fairly quickly (not the case with jon) so i think it is difficult to speculate who will be on the teams at this point. But it would be sick watching jon compete in a few different evens, and slay.

I seriously doubt Jon has any desire to compete in slope or pipe in the olympics. I'd love to be proven wrong though.

ehhh i remember in his videoblogs a couple years ago he would train rails pretty hard but still be leagues away from guys like andreas. i am stoked to see him on the racing team tho, and i'm willing to bet that every slopestyle run will have at least 1 trick that jon invented.

jon hasn't said one word about the olympics accepting any freeski events...

which leads me to believe he may be disappointed this decision was put off so long that he took up another sport (partially due to wanting more exposure) and then the IOC randomly decides to accept his former sport...

i know jon wanted to win that racing bet, but i have to believe that if jon knew the Olympic acceptance was coming and spent the last three years training slope and big air like he has for GS, dude would be on another level above everyone else

people would be scrambling to learn his latest tricks all over again just like the kang flip a few years ago...

then again Jon is arguably the best skier in the world, if anyone is bat-shit crazy enough to try and compete in alpine and freeski events at the Olympic level - it would be him...

wait and see i guess?

Honestly though, major competition rails don't take Tom Wallisch type skill. It's all big spins the same way with no edge control.

The disaster 450 in there is a competition standard trick (but I really just wanted an excuse to post that)

He said last year they were going to focus on JOI and not have JOSS. This year they will focus on JOSS and there wont be JOI.

I dont think hes good enough at racing. I havnt followed him but i dont think he regularly places high.

Pipe....he hasnt done it in ages and is way behind.

Slope: he sucks at rais so he has no chance. Plus hes probably going to bjtch about the jumps not being perfect.

He was good back in the day but now, i dont know. Apart from the kang he hasnt impressed me as a skier since teddybear crisis ( most amazing part ever)

He raced in a world cup. Twice. Nuff said right there. Hes one of Swedens best GS skiers after only racing for the past couple years.

He will be in the olympics at this rate.

hes gettin old but im sure he would love to compete. i think this is somewhat like tanner hall because they both took a few years (or one) off from x games and are amazing skiers. they may not be able to keep up with the young guns but they are both legends.

He could easily do slope, he def will do GS at minimum. I think he should do one of each just to be the first olympian in multiple events

jon has the most controlled style out there. His textbook 450 on in the TBC was proof of it 5 years ago.. that's what the Olympics will want anyways. so i could see him at least trying for it for his country. I still love his segment from 1242

triples will be prevalent by the time olympic slopestyle rolls around. if he wants to learn triples, he'll probably go. either way, he'll have to drop the racing or the jumping to make it in either one. which is unfortunate, but thats how it goes at the Olympic level. look what happened in snowboarding. shaun white took a break from slope to focus on olympic pipe and was surpassed by the slope-specific riders.

the difference between shaun white and jon is shaun white sucks dick and jon is a legend and he can be a boss at anything. shaun white already sucked at slope and had no style.

meh. shaun white is more dominating in comps than jon ever was or will be. i believe he also has more slopestyle victories than jon too. that being said, shaun white has only put out a 1 or 2 good video parts. and if you're comparing cross-sports ability, isn't shuan white the only one to win gold in summer and winter xgames?

the point is if he lost his slopestyle edge training for the olympics, it will be near impossible for anyone to qualify for both pipe and slope. i don't see it happening in snowboarding. maybe jossi wells can do it for skiing.
