From Guinness book of world records:

The longest 720 ramp jump on skis measures 26.95 m (88 ft 5.02 in) and was achieved byJoey Spencer (Canada) at Blackcomb Mountain in British Columbia, Canada, on 13 May 2012.

Wtf is a ramp jump?? and how is that the longest one ever?

just saw this too. What exactly are they talking about that's the biggest? 1. it's a flat sev. 2. ramp jump? wtf 3. definitely not the biggest jump ever

Ok, i was there that day. It was the biggest take-off to landing 720 ever recorded by the guinness book world record. There has obviously been bigger ones, im willing to be bet that there has been bigger ones on that specific jump. But they have to be there to measure it to be official.

The trick I did was my flat 720 screamin' semen 88.4 feet. I planned to submit a record regarding this specific trick however Guinness can only judge the 720 element. After I found this out I promised myself not to take the easy road out and still did my flat 720 screamin' semen; flat and screamin' semen being 2 non-required elements. I attempted this in april first and touched down with my hand. So i went back and did it on may 13th. Unless you pay the 10-15K for an adjudicator to come, it's actually alot more work to get one of these done than we anticipated. Also, no I am not supposed to ski, and yes the only times I skiied last year were for these attempts ( a total of 5 days ). I suspect someone will try/succeed at surpassing my distance with even a simple 720, but I promise, I will come back and do another flat 720 screamin' semen further.

big thanks to whistler blackcomb. They were definitely the key factors to make this happen, and of course everyone else involved. Video is apart of a film project being released in 2013. much love NS!

Here what i don't understand: that flat sev screamin is dope as hell, but why is it a world record? People have done triples, and i assume even 720s on bigger jumps. Why is this 720 special?

i planned on doing this before we found out it was only gonna count for the 720, so in a sense i was already in too deep. but i stayed true.

this is the stupidest shit i've ever read. i'm sorry. why is this even a thing? i'm not talking about the skiing, i'm talking about the record in general. seems damn pointless

its not that I can't ski. In 2010 I suffered 2 concussions, 1 serious resulting in a lifeflight right from the hill. It's in the best interest of the doctors for me to remain healthy to avoid PCS and the scenario that was causing these injuries. I am done competitive skiing for sure, but, I don't mind going out once and a while and gettin upside down! The trouble with concussions are they are so unpredictable person to person; long-term and short-term affects.

So because of these concussions is it always best that you stay off the hill or with a few years of healing you'll be good to go again? Vibes man.

i took a year and a half to get healthy. I love skiing to death and will always expose myself to it in small dosages, but I have spent the year and a half healing also developing a life where I can impact a larger audience and can't wait to launch that.

Yeah I still don't quite follow...

I understand he's the only one who made the necessary arrangements for the official title, but the elephant in the room is that there have been -and continue to be- bigger rotations on bigger "ramp jumps"... So I just don't get it.

That sucks man. Similar thing happened to me this season. I got a really severe concussion this season, destroyed my head on a rail, lasted about 5 or 6 months and I was having symptoms well past 7-8 months. They are nasty, there is so much doctors don't know about them it's scary. Hope you can eventually get back on skis safely!

i can still ski, it's just recommended I avoid what was causing my injury before. small dosages of park, and personally i dont see the serious danger of carvin some groomers or pow.

Were you wearing a helmet when you got the severe concussion? Not trying to be a dick, just interested. And congratulations man, it sounds like you've found success outside of skiing.

i was wearing a helmet for both concussions yes. veryyy rarely skiied without one, and to be honest when i did, it felt sketch.

First you must apply for a record. If the record is appropriate they will send you contracts and rules.

then essentially; 2 different film angles with 2 more backup filmers to prove footage, 1 photographer, witnesses with credible freestyle backgrounds, professional land surveyors, the mountains blessing/resources, perfect landing, and a lawyer to assemble the evidence package. Or spend 10,000-15,000 dollars for an adjudicator.

I'm assuming he thought it would be pretty cool/funny to have the record for the longest 720 screamin semen. It's not a trick that is done very often, it has a funny name.. etc etc. He put in his request for the trick and by the time Guinness got back to him saying they would only count the 720 part of the trick it was already too far along in the process. So Joey went ahead and did it anyway and now he has the record for the longest 720. Not hard to understand...

threads for when the video is posted with the other 2/3 of the frame visible

also now im wondering what the real biggest 7 is...
