After high school I think I’m gonna go live out in slc. Any jobs that would take a midwest rat like me this august/September?

No jobs in SLC, none zero.

Utah has a 3% unemployment rate. Probably could find work basically anywhere.

Depends on what you want to do.

Well I was thinking of working at a ski shop or something. Make enough to ski and pay for rent/ other expenses.

My ex girlfriend lives and works outta SLC. She works for the forest service. She says they are always hiring. I’d give you her number, but she’s a cheating piece of shit so it shouldn’t be too hard for you to get it from her yourself.

tbh you should just call up some ski shops and ask about this, august / september is probably a slow time but these kinds of places have a lot of turnover

you also could work at the resorts, except i hear thats a worse gig

other advise - enroll in the u / cc for something useful and get your degree and then go get a corporate job

bro a really good job would actually be at a country club golf course. yeah yeah it kinda sucks but you can make up to like 15 an hour plus tips at certain clubs... plus the benefits and hookups are often nice.

Working at a ski shop will not be full time. They almost certainly won’t hire you full time due to different regulations/tax structures/other reasons. They will keep you at around 30 hours or less a week. This will not be enough to cover rent/food/expenses/lift tickets unless you dip into your trust fund.

Tbh in this climate you're gonna struggle. Especially with what sounds like no experience in any trade or sector?

Some options:

-Learn a trade in a year or two and then move. Probably the best bet. Since ur not even thinking about college I think this would be a decent idea and not a huge waste of money like a useless 4 year degree in partying would be.

-Have roommates. Much easier to survive on a shitty job if your rent is split multiple ways.

-Have a savings built up so start now. This should cover 3-6months of expenses. Most people don't have this so when covid happened, they learned the hard way.

-Work at a fast food joint or a store of some sort. Eventually work your way up to better positions within the business. Not like it used to be but still possible.

Either way plan ahead

Yah I’ve worked at a hardware store for about 3 years now so I’m pretty well versed in that sort of thing. I’m gonna save all summer for rent n other expenses.

backcountry.com hires like 150 seasonal CS employees every year starting september-ish. if you have a pulse, you'll get hired

For real tho. I used to miss calls because I was too busy trying to do schoolwork and they still offered me full time employment.

My advice is to hustle a little bit harder than the limp dick mouth breather shop employees and you’ll be a lot happier. Landscape in the summer and bartend during the winter and it will pay off big time in terms of finances and ski time.
