Jay Peak won Powder Award for best POWDER!

100% agree with this statement. The days of december 18-20 were some of the most crazy deep and super light stuff I've ever skied.

But from my understanding it was best powder scene or something, so that makes sense.

jay gets million dollar grants from the government to develop the area and create jobs. they built a waterpark with their last million.

Actually, Jay gets most of the money it is using to develop from foreign investors through the EB5 program, which gives them a green card in exchange for investing in American business. The waterpark and the other additions to the resort have created jobs for thousands of people all year round, so it's working pretty well.

almost 380 inches per year on average, Better than a lot of places out west. I've skied some amazing snow a times in northern VT

was there for a day during this time and it was unreal...skied Red the rest of the time and it was unreal too

Anyone know what the criteria was? My guess is something like this:

- On the east coast

- In the United States

- Bought the biggest ad package last season

Powder awards are a fucking joke.

i dont know but since it was a movie awards im guessing a meat head segment one best powder segment for them skiing at jay peak, not jay peak has the best pow

lol

Dude if you saw the movie, you'd understand.

It's the first time I think ever where my jaw literally dropped while watching it and it took my brain a second to figure out what was actually happening.

Seriously, go find it and watch it! It's fucking mind blowingly amazing pow footy and one of the all time best imo. Not just saying that either, it really is insane.

Oh hey go fuck yourself asshole.

They did it all without helis, big name athletes and giant budgets too.

You probably didn't even see it, did you?

I think it's pretty clear, but just incase, the award is for a specific segment in a movie, not over all best powder is the world or something. If you saw Meatheads' No Matter What, you would understand. Probably the best pow day had by anyone on the east coast, ever.

Awesome a 12 year old trying to pick a fight for no reason.

Jay peak actually gets some legit powder, they deserved this, get over yourself.

Hell, you weren't even born for that season you're talking about.

You clearly don't understand what 'average' means.. so congrats on your use of irrelevant stats.

The storm that produced the segment being discussed had a snowfall rate easily comparable to Baker, if I remember correctly it was 36" in 24 hours or something. No one claimed it snowed that much all the time at Jay. Everyone knows it snows a lot more out west. Watch the segment.

West coast hate/jealousy aside, congrats Meatheads!!

I think the two comments above pretty much summed up you lack of knowledge of what you are talking about, but I will just go ahead and remind you if you had forgotten already. You do not know what you are talking about.

quote for emphasis

somehow i missed this award last night, guess im not that surprised i did ha

It must be really difficult getting through life being so defensive and constantly identifying anyone elses' differing opinion as a direct challenge to your self worth. Insecurity + illiteracy is a bitch I guess.

Or do you just not like well-shot pow rippin' footage? I'm really lost as to what your problem could possibly be aside from maybe a missing chromosome and a bit of drool. There wasn't even a Baker segment in the contest you dumbass! Alas, I'm sure you will continue to not read the goddam thread and continue on about how badass you are. That should be cool.

What's with all the hate? The mead head crew captured an epic pow day on the east and won an award for it that's it. Congrats to them and take it easy people.

I've been skiing Crystal since '87 and after logging a few hundred thousand feet of vert I there, *and* having skied ~100 days on the EC I can vouch for this statement.

The snow at Crystal is heavy, the terrain is weak, and there are far too few New Yorkers in Bogner one-pieces that congregate there on vacations.

Everyone reading this should go to Jay Peak instead.

Now I get it !

That segment was probably the best one I've seen at IF3 this year. And I was even more stoked because it's jay, and jay is awesome.

A few hundred thousand vert in 26 years is like 1-2 days per season skiing slow best.

I do like your last statement though...

I skied the friday, saturday and sunday of that weekend and all three days were incredible. Best pow days I have ever skied and likely will ever ski in a long time. Well deserving award.
