Jay Peak Trip

Hey Guys,

I promise I searched Jay and Jay Peak and there wasn’t much chatter so I thought I would take a shot on ski Gabber. Staying at a slopside condo on the 18th - 20th with 5 core ski and snowboard buddies. Any suggestions on glades? I have only been once and conditions sucked. I’m hoping to ski only glades. How about restaurants or bars? Not much eh? We’re gonna most likely ski hard for a couple days and then party hard Saturday night. Any insight would be cool. Also we’re a group of 30 and 40 year olds.

Sounds fun. I can't comment much on glades because they sucked when I was there too. Tinbuktu is supposed to be good. And I bet some of the stuff way to the right on the trail map is good as well, thought being less people track it because it's not in the center of the resort. All their glades are good though I've heard. The more challenging areas will have more snow due to less people riding it.

As for bars, Jay is in BFE so not many choices. You could either get trashed at your condo or at the hotels bars and then hit up the Waterpark (don't drown please). There's also the Snowshoe Pub & Lodge in Montgomery, VT 10-15min away that was fun to drink at when I was there. It's a dive but their food is good and drinks are heavy.

Tons of technical, steep glades off the trail map like Vortex, Beyond Andre's, Behind the fence and This is not a trail. If your looking for more mellow stuff its mostly all on the trail map. I can help u out its my home mtn.

Next time look into staying at Grampa Grunts in Montgomery....as far as the glades, I preferred Staircase and Everglade. I would dedicate one day to Stateside running the woods off the Jet and Bonnie lifts and another ridding the Tram and Flyer....watch the wind too...the Flyer lift can get awfully chilly, as well as stop the Tram from running. All and all it’s hard to even say any ones are better than others just depends on how steep you like it and how much skier traffic is in your area that day.

We stayed at Grunts the first time. We loved it, but liked the idea of skiing to confo for lunch and beers. Thanks for the suggestions. We like it steep and deep!
