what up. I saw a short film awhile ago from some Japanese dudes absolutely shredding in Japan. I can't for the life of me remember what it was called but they mostly rode armadas. Anyone on here know what I'm talkin about? If no someone direct me to more local Japanese skiers edits. I think we will see skiing really take off over there in the next few years. I haven't seen many people on NS talk about the local ski culture so if anyones been over there or has opinions to share let's hear em
 
Armada released a lengthy edit of their Japanese team this year called "Get High." That shit was TITE. Also check out "Digital Style" and the Sammy C Japan edit from last year (forget what its called). Planning a trip back to get back there next february, and the stoke is high!
 
Agreed, japan is definitely the next BIG place where freestyle will blow up. As for the culture, I made sure to read a voluminous amount of anime manga and hentai before I left on my trip. It educated me a lot on how we, as westerners, fit within their cultural fold and I found it a lot easier to integrate with the locals.

The best tip I can give is to always be courteous and humble (japanese people value these virtues), nod often to show respect and words like "kawaii senpai desu sapporo beer" go a long way in conversations

I think if it blows up in Japan we will be seeing new levels of freestyle skiing. and if it does have a big impact there who knows where it will take off next.

It'll blow up in backcountry freestyle. I'm moving there next yearish with all things right. Going to Niseko in feb for 2 weeks should be tight!
 
If i could marry the bass player of Scandal and ski pow all season, I might be able to handle their lack of herbal ski enhancers

The dudes in Get High are looking pretty herbally enhanced to me.
 
I’ll never forget one day I thought I was cool skiing a line way above Happo in the Hakuba BC. As I looked back at my line feeling somewhat proud a 40 year old guy from Tokyo dropped a mandatory cliff in a tight chute and ripped down to me looked up, smiled, and kept skiing.

Guys, just because it’s not on social media doesn’t mean there’s not a ton of already ridiculously talented Japanese riders. Maybe they don’t care for the internet to worship them?
