Ok NS. i have been looking all around the internet for a new suit this year. ive seen all the waterproof ratings and all the different colors and all. but now im asking you guys. What is a good jacket for a good price? Im a photog in the city and the hill. I Work on the hill in all the conditions. hiking and sitting around. Work from high activity to none at all. in every kind of weather i do it all. i also ski park (blue mountain, ontario), but want to get out to BC for a bit, pow and backcountry. so a jacket that has lots of ventilation, insulation... basically the works. a jacket that can do it all. oh and im not a flashy guy colors dont really matter, red, black, nothing much. the biggest thing is Wear n Tear, a jacket that wont break and can stand up.
So i need to pick a suit. any help here? Any and all help will be appreciated. you can list companies, or specific suits.

Sparknotes: I do everything in all conditions. need a suit. help me pick.

Thankyou.

yea, if you have $900 laying around to buy a suit with.

to be honest, at this point i can't even remember what you said in the op.

i personally have been looking at 3 brands:

orage - not the full suit, b dog pro model. i never really liked puffy jackets, but phil is so damn steezy and i like the idea that its really insulated, because cold is a bitch.

first drop - really like the zip off bib on the pants, so i might just get those if i get the b dog jacket, considering the full suit. i've heard good and bad things about warmth / waterproofing so i'm a little nervous about taking the jump on buying a jacket. i care less about the pants though.

saga - didn't even think about it until recently, but they actually make technical, good quality, good looking outerwear, so i'm considering it, but probably not.

i plan on getting a new jacket, but i'm only buying a new suit if i have the extra cash. but all of those suits are around $400, which is pretty good for a high quality suit.

Not sure if they are still running the sale, but on Backcountry i just picked up the spyder Godfather for 98.99, fits longer then most (not as big as saga) insulated has some good vents, 10k 10k and for the price unbeatable. And spyder has a lifetime warntee so if seams split or zippers break then send it back and you get a new one.

Just wanna say im also all about the old tried and trew companies for all my equipment. Saga, FD trew and them im sure make great product but Spyder and orage have been doing it longer and there is a reason they have always been on racks.

saga. cheapest 3L suit. unmatched breathability in the price range. shell design for adaptability w/ layering. tough as nails. $400 for a full suit. Gay-pride free colorways. rugged construction. It all makes sense...

those are my exact thoughts, i just don't want to buy a saga suit for the sole reason that its... well, saga. i don't want to be looked at like a trendwhore who can't ski.

dude, who cares if people think your a trendwhore who can't ski, you'll be comfortable and will have a suit that will last. On the mountain, respect gets respect, no matter what you're wearing. Most of this whole trendwhore thing is just bullshit that keeps people from buying what they want. Its your money. spend it how you see fit.

im looking at a full trew suit brand new in every size and color for $350 USD right now. You pay for what you get, with trew you get AMAZING quality and waterproofness in a simple non gody set up. With FD...well....you can probably guess where im going

I don't think any jacket that has been mentioned is what you really want, considering you said you want insulation and they're all shells. I'd say look in Orage though. They have great quality, insulated jackets.

nah man i totally agree. i just don't see myself as the saga type. its kind of dumb to explain. its like the douchebags with g suits thread. i like the gear, it just doesn't seem like my style. i'm dumb i know, you don't even have to tell me.

^^^and to mrstskier: please tell me where i can find that! i would really be interested. i know its good stuff and i would buy it, its just expensive in the few places i've looked. and i feel weird about getting fd. it seems like a lot of flash, but i love the technical features. the specs on the site make it look really legit, but i have seen mixed reviews. its like salomon skis, i'm probably not going to buy any until a year or two goes by without any complaints.

dub post, but i only have the TREW Eagle pants, Cant wait to try them out.

but i i was looking at a TREW suit...i would be paying like around 450-500

i'm really envious that you can get it for 350....

but anyway, the dudes at TREW are super legit, get in contact with them.

i have this one soo dope when its actually big on you

ok well trew is like 500 for a jacket. and FD is 420 for both jacket n pants.

i like this.

the black saga is cool too.

but black jacket, red pants of first drop seems dope 2

anyone know shit about waterproofness and insulation, and stuff. overall wearability is key for me.

Thanks.

i don't know what that is, but according to mrstskier you can buy a full trew suit for like 350. and someone else said they found it for like 450 a suit in another thread. no one has told me where this is, but if anyone knows, op and i would like to know.

Talk to the people who run it, they will hook you up(if you're not a complete bitch). I got my pants for like 200

Go Oakley, you know it will be good quality. Probably be like $600 for a whole suit though, I don't think that is that bad considering the quality you get.
