Jacket Help

Hey im lookin for a new jacket this year. last year I had a burton field jacket and that worked fine when i wore a big heavy sweatshirt under it but it still sucked when it got under 20. Anyway im trying to figure out a really warm jacket. like do i need a down jacket or what is a down jacket.Or should i just get a insulated one or what.

a down jacket is super puffy with thick insulation usually filled with feathers or some other type of insulation. they're super warm but will get hot on sunny days. i would just go with any insulated jacket and layer as needed.
