Their marketing is a true mystery. It’s like there trying to be edgy but also somehow family friendly? It usually just ends up being some of the worst shit on instagram.

Dunno, but the designs are utter shit

Really? I was really baked one night and bought a pair with a pnw first nations art on it. And they are pretty fun skis for the price. Totally surprised.

I think being zonked helps yeah

I thought the mallard was the best this past year, also got the print for this one whatever it’s called. Saw it misprinted on some joyrides and definitely would’ve scooped those if they were my size

Anyways, this thread sucks

Idk man that actually seems like a pretty good marketing strategy to me, is vishnus marketing strategy really that different, other than the target audience?

I still think they look cool actually. I did have some rando getting all fucky with me sayin how I was appropriating culture. And I told her. It was an actual first nation artist and they got paid for their art

It's the same marketing strategy. Emmett literally talked about it in one of those TP podcasts, it's literally just directed towards different demographics but the approach is identical

It is

I think their designs are really hit or miss. I remember them doing a wu tang graphic that was actually official, with masta killa signing off on it. I thought that one was cool but then again they've also done a Jerry of the Day collab.

I see the similarities with vishnu, especially when they often pick random graphics that they are interested in, like the Ned Kelly skis they did. I think that's cool, but I dislike it when ski companies follow lame trends

I agree that the designs are hit or miss, but the skis themselves are really good. I have a pair of Hotshots as my dailys and they can handle anything I throw at them. 3 seasons on them and they're still holding up with minimal repairs.

In reference to above posts, I have no interest in being family friendly. J Lev is a personal hero of mine. Line Reactor binding, never forget he tried to free us from the shackles of Big Bindings. They don't want you to have one pair of bindings for multiple pairs of skis like snowboarders do, stay woke.

Their warehouse sales always have a few skis with blank topsheets

Can second this two of my homies in Burlington have J’s with blank topsheets they’re dope. One is a prototype too. If you’re in Vermont it’s easy to get a blank topsheet from JLev at least.

I'm pretty sure u can buy blanks on the website as well but definitely easier if you can get to Jbrewskis

I know this is a troll thread, but here’s rambling thoughts from a climber (a sport that had lost its fun): grew up skiing on family vacations, but more recently got into it seriously. Skiing is a fortunate sport to have small companies that embrace the fun and ridiculousness of the sport. Some sports (like climbing) have developed a culture of seriousness that ruins the fun. Is some of the marketing cringy? Yeah. Are some top sheets ugly? Yeah. But promoting a fun culture is way better than everyone being too cool for school.

I’ve been drinking.

For real. The ski tech industry was like. Hold up. If this takes off. We will lose a big part of our jobs. Buddy had a pair. Super heavy and it felt like with the connection points so centered underfoot. Weight transfers were different

yeah, i heard that the reason Reactor bindings spontaneously exploded so much was because Big Binding operatives planted small bombs inside every pair. worked like a charm

I prefer 1000 skis advertising.

You didn't like Jason's tone deaf "my skis my choice" contest? I thought that would've been right up your alley.
