Looking to get a All mountain daily driver for California and some Utah skiing. I have the 2019 ARV 106 and been thinking about getting something a little more

Stable for hard packed days but heard the friend slays pretty hard does anyone know how the stability stands up to the ARV 116 or 106. I’m also debating the metal vs the masterblaster but since I already have a 106 maybe the thinner waist would help balance out my quiver I’m building. Any suggestions just kinda wanted to spew since I’ve been spending all my free time researching and I’m not any closer to making up my mind. I’m up in mammoth and have been ripping on the 106s the last 3 days I grabbed some Volkl m5s for tomorrow since they have a very similar build to the masterblaster

I ski the Metal as a daily driver and love it. I tour that ski with a daymaker, ski park, groomers, windbuff, hardpack, blower pow, and it handles all with authority. It’s a stiff ski, but the tails are a hair softer than the tips, making them a playful all mountain jib ski too.

If you’re tryna expand the quiver, the Masterblaster is a good option too, not as stiff as the Metal but a fun directional all mountain ripper nonetheless.

Friend would definitely have the same (actually probably more) stability than the ARV 116. The ski absolutely slays in deep snow and tight zones yet still grips and rips on groomers and chunder. It's super unique from anything else in this big-mtn ski category.

As for the MB vs. Metal debate the Masterblaster makes way more sense for you since you're already rocking a 106mm waisted ski. It would fill in the gap as a chargy frontside ski that you take out when it hasn't snowed in a couple of days.

Masterblaster > Metal > Friend is definitely a quiver we see folks build pretty frequently so if you added the MB as your frontside ski and the Friend as your pow ski around that ARV 106 you'd have a rock solid lineup.

Yewww thanks homies. Ya forsure that’s what I was thinking and plus the metal is fresh out anyways. I usually rock 177-180 but since the MB only has 187s left I’m rocking an M5 191 today just to see what’s good and if I’m gonna need to wait on new releases. Thanks J

Forsure but August 1st I could pre order the MB but just not have it shipped till sept? And Quick question J since your here... I’ve been reading about the metal and a lot of people say its a little more playful than expected so if I were to have a des pow ski and then a ski for ripping on crud, mogs, groomers every other day that isn’t powder and at high speeds ( the ARV 106 outta mind) would you recommend the metal or the masterblaster.

Yup exactly, all 3 MB graphics will be available for pre-order on August 1st so you can guarantee you lock down the graphic/size you want but they won't be shipping to you until mid-September.

MB will be quicker edge to edge so more geared towards groomers and moguls, but most people are shocked when they got on the metal at how nimble it is. Both skis have what we call a "light metal construction" which is two 50mm wide sheets of titanal that don't go edge to edge or tip to tail... what you get is all the power, precision and dampness of metal without being too heavy and dead.

It comes down to this: if you only had one ski to do it all (pow, groomers, crud, moguls) the Metal would kick ass across the board, however if you do have something in that 106mm range that you'll use for deeper days that's where the MB fits into the quiver super well

Word ya I’m definitely gonna go with the MB and then probably get a 115+ for pow days. I’ll mostly be skiing in Colorado this coming season since I just got hired at A-Basin. And one more quick question. How come random skis like the metal and mb are showing up available when they hadn’t been lol just kinda curious. Like 2 scavengers showed up.

Sick!! MB for frontside and then the Friend for pow days makes an insanely versatile quiver. We have a bunch of customers that start with one and then fill in the other ski the following season and are stoked on the array of conditions they're able to ski.

Simple answer, because Jason has been cleaning out his basement hahaha we'll often set aside skis that we thought would be used for magazine tests or demo fleets that never end up getting mounted, so they sit around in plastic until Jason finds them again and we put them online for folks to buy who might have missed the chance before they sold out!
