J Skis Hotshot Mount Point?

Anyone here on J Skis hotshot? If so, where did you mount them and how do you like it?

Just got a set of 189cm and the recommended seems really far back to me (-8). I'm tempted to go +2 from that but also want to trust the manufacturer and not ruin the handling by being too far forward over the camber. But last time I did that (-9 on Icelantic Nomad 105) I hated the skis and had to remount them. Totally different skis, so not apples to apples...just hoping to choose correctly the first time and not have to drill twice.

I ski pretty hard/fast, but don't really ski switch much these days. I just skied a lot of park when I was younger so still used to that more centered mount.

Email JSkis, they will let you know what the range is to still get performance, I think it’s like +2 on most of their skis.

Thanks for commenting! I've read your review a few times now. I also have the 189.

I did notice you say you went +1, but if my math is correct that would be -7...

I mounted mine at -6 from true, they are great there

I got the "we recommend recommended" along with "we wouldn't go more than 2cm from recommended." Not very definitive.

I know that one of their athletes mounts further forward, like -3.5 back from center and he enjoys it there!

Right on. I guess I feel better knowing that if I go +2 from the rec. dot I won't ruin the ski.

I had them at rec, even there the front of ski is borderline short/soft so unless your a lightweight, or going to land switch..

stay back eh

This is good info. What length, how tall are you, etc.?

I'm 6'4" 200+lbs.

Were they still quick/easy to pivot at rec.? e.g. tight trees?

My worry is just having too much ski in front of me for the quick, slashy stuff...but they have a decent amount of early rise in the tip, so they might not feel/ski as back-mounted as they look.

I'm 6'3 242

ski style will come in to play here. but allready at rec I felt I couldnt drive it if it was on the firmer side

Yep, mentioned in the last comment, but I read your review several times before purchasing!

I'm blind, maybe I did put them at plus -7 then, and I'm just forgetting, I think Giray put them at -6 now that I recall
