I've got a broken Fibula!

Well half of my season is over. Broke my fibula the other day trying a new trick and i'm out for 6-8 weeks! Atleast its not even january so my season isn't completely shot. I feel like a broken fib is sort of not the norm when it comes to broken bones in skiing. Anyone have any wierd bones they've broken while skiing?

I broke my arm, but thats not too weird. And at least you picked the right season to get injured, I've only gotten out twice, so far it blows

gnarly! how the fuck did you do that? But, assuming you don't get a clot and die, better a fib then a full knee explosion.

That's rough man. + vibes

But i'm surprised it won't take longer to heal. that's a pretty significant bone.

No broken bones for me, but a dislocated hip, and separated shoulder both sucked pretty hard. Still better than a blown knee though, without a doubt.

Ya i felt it pop when i landed funny...was in instant pain. Pretty thankful no surgery is required or anything so i'm happy for that! I'm pretty sure it happened cause i had shin splints and my leg was already alittle weak.

unfortunate, ++ vibes. my best friend torn his ACL last year at this time and won't be able to ski until next year. i broke some bone in my leg and the doctors had never heard of it, there had only been 6 other cases ever reported

broke my fib last year, dont rush back when it feels strong cause that's just walking and supporting your body, give it another week or 2, depending on where you broke it expect a dull pain when your skiing for an extended period

i broke mine in line with the top of the boot, struggled with carving right for a while cause of pain

Crap that's not exactly good news... How long was your total heal time?

Also... What kind of awesome thugs. An I do to my cast, or air cast if I get one

that sucks dude! i'm out for a few weeks i think too. yesterday i overshot a jump by a lot. had been hitting it the night before perfectly. did the same thing the next day overshot my first hit. almost landed to flat. like 90 percent of the way down the lander..

pain was ridiculous right away. i've broken quite a few bones, and i thought at least one of my ankles were jacked up real good. ski patrol brought me down, and i've been walking lightly today, but usually on crutches. didnt go to the doc tho. thinking its just bruised heals.

i pretty much felt like that simon dumont video of him over shooting that jump, with a little bit of tanner hall screaming BROKE!!! cept i didnt scream that. hahha.

hope you have a speedy recovery! i've broke the front shin bone before. its not fun.

+vibes to you man.. That same shit happened to me last season.. I broke my fibula in the left leg while trying to hit a 40 ft booter doing a 180 and fell to the side.(Pisses me off that I did a trick that I always do and broke the fibula that one time I happen to fall...) I was going pretty fast and i tumbled really fast in the snow and think thats how I broke it.. I broke it Jan 16 and was out for the rest of the season. My leg feels really solid and like new! The best thing out if this situation is that you will be super stoked to go back to skiing when your ready!

actually, the tibula is much more more significant. broke a fibula back in the day and hobbled around for three days before I found out it was actually broken. then the doc gave me a 'walking' cast with some sort of goretex-esc inside that I could still swim with.

OP, keep your head up. You'll be able to move around very soon, but as others have said, after you feel like you're ready to kill it again, hold off two more weeks. My bro also broke this bone (and like me walked on it for three days before getting a cast) and later rebroke it. after that, it took a year until he was 100% again.

it was alright, didn't know id broken it for a few days and went to hospital to skip college

depends on how bad the break is but after 3 months of the break occurring i was going hard again

colour the cast in to look like a ski boot

Vibes to all those who are injured like me! Yup I was walking on it for a couple of days as well before going into the doctors, the fibula isn't a weight bearing bone but you sure do feel it when you put a ski boot on ... I'm gonna try and make it look like my full tilt konflicts hahaha
