itunes songs -> MP3

I use itunes for all of my music and it stores them all as .m4a. Since I have a few programs that wont accept this form for use (such as winamp) I need to know how to convert these files into MP3. I did a search on google and came up with one program but it doesn’t seem to work. Any help would be great, thanks.

you can change your settings on itunes to capture as mp3 files....

do this: go to edit>preferences>importing>import using (choose mp3 endcoder here).

^ok. You need to go into the itunes preferences and click on importing. Once in the importing preferences you will see "Import Using" switch it to MP3 Encoder. Then follow my previous instructions.
