ITunes 10

It has "Ping" (social network for music - so you can share with other iTunes users what you're listening too/buying off iTunes) and you can choose to just rent TV Shows from Fox and ABC if you don't want to buy them. The look is changed slightly too (mostly just the icons on the sidebar)

Also, on the apple site, I like that the new shuffle has buttons again, don't a huge fan of the new nanos, don't really care about the touch since I have an iPhone 4 (but I do need a new computer next year so I'll probably get one of the free iTouches with it, so that's sweet I guess), but the new apple TV is sweet and that it's only $99 is sweet too - now I can watch my iTunes videos on my TV without having to convert them so they can play on my PS3.

itunes is such a totem pole up the ass. every fucking week the release up to 150mb if not more of "updates" 99% of the time i havent noticed a god damn difference. Not to mention i use itunes for the basics which is what its made for, holding your music library, syncing, buying music. thats all they need. stop giving me fucking updates.

Maybe try Songbird? It's made with the same platform as Firefox (I think, someone correct me if I'm wrong) and it is open-source. It's pretty good from what I hear. I've used it a bit, but I'm too ingrained to iTunes to give it up.

BTW, I just clicked on this thread when, not even 10 seconds later, iTunes popped up the update window.

You realize that when any software is updated the entire program is downloaded again, and not all updates are visible (i.e security patches). When you download an update (for any program, not just apple products) it downloads the entire program again (the only real exception to this is Adobe CSx series, but even stuff like flash player is completely re-downloaded) then it installs the program and while re-installing it deletes the old version, freeing up the same amount of space on you HDD.

I just got it, its pretty nice

I like the new layout option, its all very minimalistic...

I'm also a registered apple developer (currently working on an iPhone app), so I just got the final version of the ios 4.1 beta (for the iPhone 4) and it is also pretty solid. They fixed the proximity sensor issue and ping is integrated into the iTunes app. The camera app has an HDR option, which surprisingly is pretty useful...

unfortunately i do not realize this, yet i feel it is just becoming more of a pain in my ass having to re download itunes ever other week. they should come up with patches instead of entire new programs

from the pics on the website it looks almost exactly the same as the one i'm using now. What's different in the layout?

just downloaded it.

nothing special from itunes 9. ping is just a homo version of facebook (as far as im concerned...) and itunes 10 plays music just as well.

visuals are kinda cool tho

I always wonder if I'm the only one who doesn't because all of my friends use it. I think it looks sick, but I don't use it.

Do the new versions of Itunes actually get any better? I always just upgrade them because it tells me too and never notice a difference.

Not really, mostly now it's just security and UI updates. To make it more sleek looking, and to make suckers more willing to spend money on bands who lose 30% profit to iTunes. That is if I remember correctly.

the new features dont affect me at all, how ever I did order one of the new shuffles which makes me exited
