It really is sickening the way drinking and smoking has taken over the skiing culture

Why wouldn't he? I know I am certainly better than the punk bitch teenager blasting ghetto rap and "not giving a fuck" by smoking on the lift to look cool.

You cannot just simply replace "jealous" with "you think you're better than them".... They mean the complete opposite things... It's like saying to girl "I love you" and when she gets all giddy and says it back, you say "oh sorry I meant to say hate, not love"
 
Yeah i can see that. My main point is ego getting in the way. Just because somebody is smoking or drinking does not mean they are flaunting it. Whether you're jealous or you think you're better. The ego needs some checking...
 
You're right. This pretty much describes me.. or described me at least. But you act like drinking and drugs are a new thing to this culture and have just recently "taken over".

This shit's been around for decades. There are people who like to party and there are people who don't. There are extremes in both cases and what better time than when you're in school, have plenty of spare time and in an atmosphere where others are doing same thing.

And as to how it relates to skiing? The reason you probably see so many skiers who party their asses off is because it's a sport that gives you a rush, something where you are always pushing your boundaries. It honestly doesn't surprise me at all that it attracts the "party" crowd, it shares many of the same thrills.

Unfortunately the skiing culture has always had that element of drugs and alcohol. It's not everyone though.

Everyone makes their own decisions, a lot of people make the decision that will make them happy now. Some people actually think ahead and make the decision that will be best for them later on. Partying, drinking, and smoking will feel good now but later on in life you will realize that those were worthless decisions. Life isn't all about only thinking about today.

Just my opinion.
 
Yes it is. Right now is the only thing we are actually guaranteed. You don't know if you'll wake up tomorrow for sure. Yes, you probably will, but what if you don't? The saddest part about how we live our lives is that no matter how hard we try to live in the moment, we are forced by society and by the economy to focus more on the future, than what is actually happening now.
 
If you didn't wake up tomorrow where do you think you would be? Would you just not exist anymore? You can be certain that you will go somewhere after you die. If not then what would be the point of this life anyway? I'd say its pretty important to make sure that you end up in the right place if you don't wake up tomorrow.
 
People should just live and let live, if you wanna have a great time skiing high you can do that, if you wanna have a great time skiing completely sober you can do that. Honestly, who gives a shit...

And, it proves my point. Again. People do the god and religion thing because they're terrified. I'm sorry, but faith and belief are completely and totally null and void when you're actions are rooted in fear of eternal punishment.

And yes I would be terrified if I didn't know that God existed. Maybe you should be terrified? Because if you're right, and there is no God and no heaven and no hell, then we are all just nothing after we die. But if I'm right and there is a God and a heaven and a hell, then the ones who don't listen to God really are screwed. Btw Christians aren't Christians because they're scared of hell. Would you be scared of hell?

I can go burn buds and ski as high as I want to. Herbs put me into the zone. Even though I smoke at times there are days when I never smoke. Cannabis has never affected me in a negative way. I always have a blast.

Bud hasn't taken over the ski culture. Its just more acceptable to openly talk about it. Get used to it. It turns out lots of people like to get high.

people who watch football drink A LOT more than the skiing culture, and thats a pretty big piece of the 'american culture' in my observations, though i completely disagree with the idea of rooting for a team you have no personal association with and a huge waste of time, and a sorry excuse for unskilled folks trying to take a step into sports

and i disagree op, i think a lot of people do enjoy skiing sober, my name on here is spliff.life, and i smoke pot. But this year ive ski'd more sober than not sober days, and prefer it that way for the most part, its really never been about getting 'fucked up' just about staying in that right mindset and some days smoking helps me forget about school and work while im skiing and let go of the thoughts i shouldnt be thinking during my hours of freedom,
