It really is sickening the way drinking and smoking has taken over the skiing culture

There's really no other way to put it. If you get offended reading this, it's cause it describes you. I'll be totally honest, this is relevant to so many.... and it throws light on how skiing is represented. To a lot of you, it's all about the so called lifestyle and less so the actual skiing. People hiding beers with them on the chairlift or smoking weed on the way up....are you serious? How is it that you need that extra buzz just to enjoy skiing? You can't enjoy the turns in fresh pow sober? You can't accept that it's a PRIVILEGE to be able to live somewhere in proximity to a mountain with lift service and have the actual cash to afford it? You're taking it for granted, plain and simple...and diluting your experience. Stop ruining skiing by attaching the drinking and smoking to this sport.
 
Trololololol..... Diluting your experience? Dude are you fucking kidding me? Go ski on fucking painkillers then come talk to me about how it "diluted" your experience. Seriously. Alot of pro skiers smoke weed because it makes them ski better and drinking some brews on the lift is fun as fuck. Let people do what they want you tool
 
Actually it's a pretty big sacrifice (at least monetarily since you mentioned the cash) to live in very close proximity to skiing.
 
how about the culture of 18-24 year olds. college? it just gets amplified in skiing since there are not super strict rules within the sport. unlike most other professional sports.

because skiers have always drank, partied and done drugs.
 
I say the same thing as you first...4 down votes. you say it...4 up votes..this forum makes no sense.
 
Its not that i can't enjoy skiing sober, but drugs n drinks makes it even better.

You can allways file a complaint to FIS, and hope they'll set up drug testing stands for every attendant to the hill.
 
Hey OP, next time I go skiing I'm going to shotgun a couple beers and rip a bowl just for you!

Oh yeah and I totally get to "rip some pow" living here on the east coast.
 
Drinking and skiing is one of my all time favorite past times. OP is just mad that he sucks so much at skiing that when he drinks and smokes he just falls apart on the slpes
 
Go learn some skiing history. You actually think the previous generations were more "ethical"? Dude, these people were the scumbags of their time. Most guys were drinking on their way to the mountain. They got kicked out of their mountains daily. They did not get in trouble for simply doing twists and spreads, they were throwing snowballs at clients and patrol and getting high before finishing with a wrecking party.

They were committed skiers, but they were no saints. Id have to say skiing culture is very athletic oriented now. It has really toned down. People are focused now on sending it, so they must keep their bodies in top shape. Why you think skiing is rotten is because you grew up in a protected world and now getting exposure on the reality of partying.

i find there are 2 types of pot smokers.

1. pot smokers.

2. people who tell absolutely everyone and everything about how much dope they smoke cause theyre hard as fuck. rockpile.

no one thinks youre cool cause you smoke on the lift broo.

unless youre by yourself, then have at it.
 
AND I HAVE A GOD DAMN RIGHT TO ENJOY SOME BREWS WHILE I AM ENJOYING SKIING. WEED BEER AND SKIING ARE ALL COOL. WHY NOT COMBINE THEM TO CREATE THE COOLEST THING EVER. STRAIGHT EDGE PUSSY.
