no its not because hes training for pipe, that actually has nothing to do with it. Working on technical bed tricks like that bouncing from back, stomach, and seat drops can really help with air awareness. Air awareness is probably the most important thing to work on for skiing, as it helps everything that you do. So try to do a lot of stuff like flips out of back, seat, or front drops, cradles(back drop-180-back drop), and turntables(stomach-spin-stomach) and it should be able to improve your jumping in general weather it be on a tramp or skis.
