Is there any way to make the GoPro battery life longer?

Keep it under your jacket when you're not using it, I personally keep mine in my bib pocket so it stays warm.

Got one recently and was blown away at how short the battery life is. I wonder if shooting in lower quality than 4K or something would preserve battery...

tape a handwarmer to the back of it

nope that gets way too hot which is also negative for not only battery life but overall battery health, ideally you want it lukewarm

turn off all the extra crap (voice control, wifi, bluetooth, e-stabilization), make sure the rear LCD stays off for as long as possible, and film in only the highest resolution/framerate you need to for your particular shot, not just maxing it out 4k60p all the time which will rip through battery way faster than more reasonable 1080p formats

All though it is a pain in the ass to do so, usually I take the battery out between runs on the chair or while touring and put it in my glove. Battery stays warm and lasts a bit longer. Like some of the other things mentioned they work well too, but I typically want the stabilization and voice control so the battery in the glove works great.

carry extra batteries, use a small memory card like 8gb or lower. i had the same issue on my gopro, i eventually bought a Sony action cam

For a camera designed for use in extreme conditions the battery is fucking awful in cold temperatures on the newer models, even if you are running it with only the basics.
