Is the Icon Pass the savior the world needs?

Two companies controlling the majority of resorts is abit unsettling for sure....
 
Yes and no. I dont buy an ikon as I still ride 2 privately owned resorts( idk actually, I think sierra at tahoe is owned by some bigger entity) but from my perspective all those perks and places you can ride is dope as fuck. On the other hand....

Are you serious both passes are wicked cheap. Most mountains charge 300-400 for a season pass and the epic local was $670. You get some of the best mountains on their. Same with Ikon, only $899 before and you get unlimited at mammoth etc.

Both passes offer resorts with the best parks possible.
 
I already got 23 days on my Ikon pass, with some spring days at Squaw and Mammoth. Maybe that will make up for the throngs of front rangers that will be invading my hill every weekend with their cheap passes.

Ikon Pass is an extremely shittier version of the MAX Pass. (East Coaster here. Pretty bummed about it tbh. Got a pass to Cannon this year)
 
Hell yeah. The Ikon pass is pretty dope. Can't say I'm not nervous about the lack of competition tho. Prices prices prices shall rise

Uh, no.

With all the new additions and more to come it’s a much better deal then epic pass. You also don’t have to deal with shitty Vail.

Do I want every mountain to be part of a huge conglomerate? Not really. Do I like the perks of having rhese kind of passes? Absolutely.

Also some of the hate people give gets annoying. People skiing super coorporate mts acting as if vail or alterra are the only corporations.

If i had more days off Id buy an ikon too.

I've never had an Epic Pass, what is that?

With the MAX Pass I used to get 5 Days EACH at like ~15 Resorts all around New England (I live in Boston.) When they first announced the Ikon Pass it was 7 Days TOTAL only at Sugarloaf, Sunday River, and Loon. They just changed it last week to 7 each at the same mountains but they still almost halved the total number of resorts. Still a shitty deal compared to the Epic Pass

Epic is Vail’s pass. All Vail Resorts. Mainly unlimited. Vail is shit

You get all the old intrawest east coast ski areas and Killy now and Sunday river, loon, sugarbush. Maybe another one or two I forget.

I’m just happy the base pass makes perfect sense for weekend skiers in Utah now. And perfect for a few trips. I’ll do a weekend in Jackson and aspen.

Right, you still have access to these mountains with the Ikon Pass (also Stratton and Sugarbush) but it still pales in comparison to what was covered by the MAX Pass. Again, until last week it was 7 days TOTAL (not each) for the East Coast resorts. I'm assuming they changed it to 7 days each because no East Coasters were buying it this year and they were losing money to resort specific passes.

I understand this is awesome for Utah resorts, but for New Englanders at least, this is a big step down from the MAX Pass

Mammoth had them before it was part of Ikon. I have never had a problem with them, pointing it on groomers is not that big of a deal to me.

Confirmed. Tested it out. Actually works and is cheaper than the college pass they offer.
