Is the GoPro HD Hero 2 worth it?

So I want a GoPro for Christmas and I'm debating between the GoPro HD Hero for $200 or the new GoPro HD Hero 2 for $300. I will only be filming on this, probably just 720p @ 60 fps. I'm not too camera savvy so I won't be doing anything fancy with it. Is the new one really worth the extra $100?

yes and no...

there are pros and cons to both...

get a job and get the 2 dont be a puss

(ive only used the HD one, not the 2... so i really shouldnt be telling you what to buy, but im pretty sure the 2 is that much better)

based off of the features and what my friends who do have it have said, yes. i don't actually have it. but why did you link the IS in your original post to some patagonia jacket?

i haven't used the 2nd one yet but if you ever do get more camera savy, you might be able to get more out of the 2nd than the first with the supposed better quality and the higher frame rates. i kinda want it actually, might sell one of my regular hd heros...

because camera savy people can really get that much more out of a GoPro 2 then the HD... with that higher frame rate and all.

If you want to get all edity with it the 2 looks so sick. slowmo is so sexy and it just looks clearer overall. and the mic is better.

I'm not sure why I somehow linked that jacket. But, I'm kinda leaning towards the 2, but it's going to be a Christmas present so I don't want to make my mom spend an extra $100 for it when I may not even use the new bonuses much at all.

yeah i know, what bit rate did you use when rendering your morning wood video? its perfect

oh thanks! for that i just exported it out of final cut pro and then put it in compressor with the settings for HD online. like h.264 at 1280x720p and aac audio and what not.

if you still have the original file you uploaded can you check the properties and check video bitrate? thanks

the go pro 2 has a better camera and can shoot at to different (lenses) if you want to say at 1080p, i have the 2nd one and it is preety awesome

If you are getting it for the 120 frame per second make sure that you have software that can edit videos at that framerate.
