Is skiing progressing too fast?

With cork 810's onto rails, 120 foot jumps, rails with more kinks than LINESUCKS's bannana dick where is skiing left to go? How am i to be entertained next year when all we have left to work on is style?

 
the 810 wasnt as big of a progression as the 120 foot table and the sesion that went down on the kink was more progressive then candies stuff.

Being out there skiing every day, good or bad, just playing around with friends, with no contests or filming- that is the real spirit of skiing for me. that is why i started skiing, and if i lose those moments that is what will make me stop skiing.
 
Even Iannick will have a hard time stepping up next year...hard to top a switchup 360 with 270's in and out

 
i forsee a point when progression will stall and people will work on style. it has happened before and history repeats.

To all those people who say that Iannicks stuff is more progressive than what Candide did, I want to point out the fact that these two thigns cant really be comparable. What Iannick did is a tech marvel compared to what Candide did , which is just plain stupid. I just dotn think that it is right to compare the two because they are pretty much two different things. 50 ft gap to rail as opposed to spinning like a top on a rail. Just wanted to get that all out.

 
Well in comparison to the infinity of time maybe. But if the world will end within the next year then it progressed fine

ive never really looked at it like that, but your right...the past few seasons have been like 500% increase in freeskiing and there isnt much left to accomplish...but there always will be a new breed of skier out so im sure we'll be seeing some pretty amazing stuff out there soon.

i dont like to think it...but in the back of my mind..ya it is too fast. im afraid it will die if we have this happening. ill always love it, but like, i dont know...things like style will come into play so mch more..people were saying it a while ago about taht terrible switch backflip-frontflip in the 2001 core games or sumtin like that...but thats nothing compared to now. Switch Cork 3 True-Nose over the 120. grabs and spins onto rails...innovative terrain hits...thats where i want things to go...notCork 810 Tails onto rails...altho that waS sick and candide is awesome

I was thinknig about this too. It seems to me that stuff is too big. So many people are hurtthis year. It seems like a lot of pros can't handle whats going down now.

to gap 55feet to a rail is cool enough on its own but to spin more than 2 rotations then land on the rail underneath ur boott is totally fucked up. but i fainted when i saw the 360 switch up so ther both sick. plus progression still has nose and tail slides and switch pow skiing to go. so were good for a couple of years

theres different directions of progression. like what kinda happened in rollerblading is the tech tricks almost got maxed out so some took it in a different direction and started doing creative stuff, which is what may happen with skiing.

 
everybody worries about 'too much' progresion killing the sport. yeah fucking right. what the fuck does anybody doing any type of spin onto a rail have to do with your skiing? I don't see progresion as doing any trick, progresion is to get more people into the sport and how does this kill it?

Misty 7 has a grudge against Candide or something, it's weird. Anyway, apples and oranges - it's like comparing a skater doing leap of faith to a skater doing a three-part flip-in flip-out on a flat rail, so I don't get it. As for the original question, I think a lot more people will get hurt next year.

Progression on rails is the result of spending so much time in the park.. which isnt a bad thing. People are always bitching about being well rounded, but honestly look at the best of things, seth is the king of big mtn, iannik is the king of park rails, and candide is well.. the king. And we have alog raod to go with progression... we might be tapping to the climax on rails, but what about big mtn, theres so much to be done.

what i think will happen is sadly.. its gonna kill its self and all the kids who do it for image are gonna pick up snowboarding again.... leaving skiing to the trulesy hardcore.... and the moment i see less skiers in the park. im gonna buy like 5 pairs of twins to last me a while

yea like somone said before,Maybe once we see a switch unnatural cork 810 over a 50 foot gap skiing will be completly done preogressing but thats def not gonna happen anytime too soon

yeh fully quebecfreestlyer.... this is a damn deep thread. style is the way skiing is going tho... you think bout it... tj schiller this year he was bout one of the only pros (unknowns) to flop out a switch cork 1260 lead hand mute in comp.i bet lots of them can do them however. that is fuckin super tech. but then you see jon olsson's switch cork 7 nose grab at the WSI. i prefer that to the switch cork 12 for sure. this is how skiing is gonna progress this year and in the next few years to come.

i can't belive that people are thinking that skiin is gonna hit so magical boundary next year or the year after and stop progressing....think back a few years....ne1 ever think of spinning 450 on to a rail......No....to think there has to be more sht out there that people havn't even thought of yet..... skiing has far to go before it gets maxed out... parks will just get bigger...and the shit that people will through will juast get sicker.. think..shit like smoth tripple flipps ....the posibilities are boundless

and neway this thread has mostly spoken bout the progression of park skiin ...there is the other 95% of the moutain that we can't forget

skiing will never stop progressing if we're creative about it. anybody who does a cartwheel on skills gets a snack cracker from me.

 
Who the fuck cares? Are you all going to quit skiing when the pros arent progressing anymore? I mean honeslty do you ski to watch what the pros can do or do you ski cause its fun. You all are way to caught up in what other people are doing. Just do your own thing and have fun and stop worrying, its not like any of you are ever going to reach the level where you cant progess anymore so dont worry about it

there will always be something new to do. im sure a lot of people thought the same thing about snowboarding and skateboarding and all of the other sports at some point, but it looks like they're all doing fine. just worry about your personal progression, not the pros.

So much new stuff to do. the area of butters has barely been unfolded.Think about this, butter 270 to slide sideways to slide onto rail to backside 360 switchup to keep spinning on the rail to 270 out to revert on your tails. Thats progression.
