Yes, they always were. Putin is a clown and as the second cold war approaches we need a president who isn't a pussy. we should preemptively put an end to russia as a country.

Yeah any country with a formal military would be crazy to get into a war with the US. We have the capability to wipe out most militaries, and it wouldn't take us very long either. The militias and terrorist organizations that blend in with the innocent civilians are the ones we have troubles with because of our rules of engagement. Were more of a police group rather than a modern military in those situations.

I love how Obama looked at Romney like he was crazy when Romney said that we have to take Russia seriously during the 2012 debates. Obama just laughed at him saying your Cold War policy was 20 years out-dated. Talk about a fucking back-fire for Obummer. I wonder if he feels like an idiot like he should/.
 
For both Russia and North Korea, the US would obviously be a problem if they ever took military action, but they're in a terrible position, because the rest of the free world is on our side. So we spend around $600 billion a year (which is probably way too much), when China and Russia, the next biggest spenders, commit less than $300 billion combined. North Korea doesn't have a large enough economy to spend anywhere near even the top 30 countries. If you combine the top 20 "pro-Western" countries, the spending is over $1 trillion. Also, America (and the other developed countries) could far out produce Russia and China during times of war, eliminating more of the threat.

In the end though, none of this spending means anything if someone shoots of a nuke. Nothing matters then, except who's defense system fails first.

Thats why I think that nothing will happen between the US and Russia. The threat of nuke is too real and both countries know that no one comes out on top if nukes are used. Say we go to war with Russia and start kicking the shit out of them, whose to say they wont use one when they become desperate? We all know that if a war happened than they'd eventually become desperate and as they become more and more desperate, the threat of threat of them using a nuke gradually increases as well.

But it's more complicated than that, because if we continue to sanction Russia economically, it won't be sustainable for the Russian economy, which may result in escalation. However, Russia supplies natural gas to Europe, which gives them some pull.

It's about trying to find a balance between the Appeasement policies that led to World War II, and total war immediately.

Agreed. Obama should threaten Russia into a race towards Mars. That would finally get NASA going again which is a great thing for our country historically speaking. Some people don't realize that the space race to the moon was soooo much more than a guy walking on the moon. It was an advancement as a society and culture into the modern age we live in today.

A leader doesn't go to two fundraisers on the same day that this shit happens. Obama had nothing to do with the takedown obviously but his handling of it reflects the total incompetency of his entire presidency. Defending his handling of this is an absolute abomination.

I don't know, maybe be the PRESIDENT? he should have gone directly back to the situation room at the white house with all his senior staff members and got Putin directly while tirelessly coming up with a plan. Instead he "warned" Russia not to tamper with the crash zone (LOL...I'm sure that really made Putin quake in his boots) and then went to two fucking democratic fundraisers. Like holy shit.

what I'm saying is there really isn't much he can do. instead of hopping on his private jet and flying over there to take care of the situation, he needs to make a plan and make sure that he makes the right decision.

Both cases are probably mistaken identity... I don't think either plane was intentionally shot down. It's still in poor taste what he did. I dont know how that can be argued
