Is NS still popular among this generation of skiers?

I’ve seen some kids think it’s a cool like “trendy thing” to have NS stickers on their helmets or whatever but have 0 idea what it means when you ask them lol

As an avid newschooler in the 2000s is NS still big among the up-and-coming skiers?

Absolutely not. It's mostly old farts now. Has been's such as I.

Then a bunch of Grommets. Who knows how far the Grommets will go?

There's quite a few of us college students currently at the U that use the platform, but yeah none of the high schoolers are aware of NS existence as a forum. NS could bring in a lot of money if they simply had a wider selection of merch.

I'm probably the only kid in my entire highschool to have newschoolers. They need to advertise to the younger generation and get them on the site more. Like all my friends follow them on Instagram but they don't know anything about the site. They are mainly snowboarders too so they wouldn't really fit in haha

I mean our top rated member is a snowboarder.

I remember first finding out what forums were in middle school, circa 2012. Didn't find out about NS for a few more years and still didn't start using it until 2018. I feel like a lot of people I know younger than me hardly have any idea what forums are. It's a totally different form of social media from what most people are used to. Miss me with that "it's not social media" BS because it is. But it's so different and foreign I bet most people are too lazy/intimidated to learn a new type of social media that is, frankly, more work than Insta/Twitter/etc, despite it being more rewarding in my opinion. I bet this format has a large part to do with the lack of younger users, regardless of the advertising and perception of Newschoolers.

That being said, there are still a fair number of kids on here who can't even drive and such, which is a good thing! But yes I feel relatively young or possibly of average age amongst active NSers.

Been here since 03 this account 04. It was a space before myspace and Facebook. Shit before YouTube!. In today's age there is so much more media and digital social connection. The exclusivity of NS went away. For a long time NSG was my home and SG was like hmmm ok

Now I spend more time in SG

But alas I am a old fart(35) I have many a fond memory of this site and is by far the longest tenured site I have visited ever and that includes porn

I believe this too.

I was on forums in other interests for forever it seems. Its been years since I've been on some , some have shut down and one I still frequent and have been on there 11 years.

When I wanted to learn more about freestyle and park skiing the first thing I googled was for forums and found this place. I knew of this website before their Instagram

I have always found forums much easier to use than mainstream social media, and I'm a kid. It just makes more sense in my simple head.

I think the only reason I used NS when I was younger was because it wasn't blocked on my highschool's laptops. Sooooooo many classic threads to read!

Im in highschool and most of my homies are on the platform

Forums moved to IG comments basically. Or Tiktok.

Like in 2007 where else did you see anything about this? Freeskier, maybe? Powder to some extent?

Im 15 and use NS a decent amount but none of my buddies that ski have a clue about it

NS is like this girl, you got to tell them about it!

I'm in highschool and can totally understand why newschoolers isn't popular among other kids my age. It's confusing at first, isn't addictive (in the short-term, I'm very addicted in the long-term), people will shit on you if you act dumb and it's not a clout-generating machine like instagram and tiktok.

Tbh this isn't all a bad thing, it just means that everybody on this site is REALLY into skiing, like to the point where they need a social outlet for it. On a side note, I've only ever met a couple newschoolers members in person so most park skiers aren't active on here. Also most younger pros avoid this site like the plague but it looks like some of the older guys still lurk on here.

Forums are chill because you can actually have a conversation on a single topic instead of social media comments which is basically like everyone walking into a room and shouting something then walking back out.

I actually never really went on NS back in the day as I just liked to ski with my buddies and that was that. But now that I am older its cool to look back on the scene and talk to the newer generation of skiers coming in.

27 years young, account number under 100k, built in 2007 lurked for a few years before then

ns is the only place i can really get into it about park skiing. especially having moved around the country quite a bit since high school, picking up and losing connections with different skiing communities, etc.

definitely younger kids on here still. not like the heyday. but more it's active than a few years ago! i think ns will always be a definitive source for most things park skiing

If they can have Taylor Lundquist, Jossi Wells, and Tanner Hall on the Bombhole podcast, then we can have snowboarders on Newschoolers tbh

This is it. They make a couple windbreakers and wyde fleeces and boom you have a whole new appeal.

and that being said I’m glad I’ve spent my entire highschool years on newschoolers, anytime I was on my phone or computer in school I was on newschoolers. I love this site.

I don't want to admit that TikTok is pretty much a necessity for brands right now. I hate it so so much.

I don’t think the 4 year olds drooling on mommy and daddy’s iPad are the ones you really want on your forums though. I’m pretty sure hella people have tiktok but I think it’s a LOT of like, iPad babies

NS should make TikTok account.

Hate to be the one to burst this bubble but they already have one. They don't post much but when they do its frequently related to new edits dropping or news, which I like. Of course they have way fewer followers than the generic repost pages that don't credit skiers anyways.

Im a freshman and I feel like the average high-schooler would get corrected on here and get offended someone knows more then them and leave this site forever

Does any of the old farts remember the spam wars with TGR? All the tubgirl, goatsee and lemon party??? You had to have a spork to be safe
