i upgraded my laptop in the first weekof it being out. its not really worth it ae its still just an operating system. I'd have to say the one good thing about it is that it can recover itself instead of freezing. I've never had to do a restart because it froze yet. It just takes a minute where the screen kinda greys over and then it restarts without actually restarting. thats really good. umm you probably want alot of ram in it, definitly over 1gb. if you're running it on a laptop and upgrading from xp be aware that not everything may be compatiable, like I can't run areo, windows movie maker, or the dvd software because apparently my video card isn't good enough, even though it meets the stated min specs. If you play alot of dvds I don't think vista is good. I've had problems with windows media player playing dvds its plays them uber slow, but I dot vlc media player and that runs ok. networking is a bitch to figgure out unless you're running anything other than xp on the other computers on your network. the new start menu takes a bit of getting used to but its all good once you've got it sorted. I would wait until sp2 ships, assuming there will be one in the near future
