Is it dumb to paint brand new bindings?

I just took advantage of some deals and bought a pair of Faction Prodigy 4.0's and I am going to put Pivot 18s (Forza) on those bad boys but I was thinking of painting (the bindings ), highlighter pink or black. Is this a stupid idea? Just curious if anyone has done this or heard of, anyone, doing this.

Fuck it, I say go for it, no one really ever looks at your bindings close up so I doubt anyone will be able to tell. Only thing is it might chip off and show the paint underneath but that could also look sick having multi colored bindings

I used an almost plasti-dip spray on my FKS's, looked real cool, then the plasti-dip stuff started to chip off and looked even cooler. 10/10, do it m8

something about putting paint on contact points of bindings scares me, seems like it'd risk messing up its functioning or maybe drip into the wrong place

but then again i use crazy old bindings sometimes, and i've skied with several people with painted bindings and they worked fine so idk

Do it. Why not. It's likely it'll chip eventually but might hold up. It sounds like you want to so why not. Paint em black, pink, neon orange whatever.

Id make sure not to paint any contact points or joints. Also make sure the paint wont affect the plastic parts.

The red and yellow ones? If so, I can see why you would wanna paint over them Lol.

chipping is inevitable and the bindings cost an awful lot of money to just spray paint em lol

It is difficult for me to imagine giving enough of a shit about how my bindings look to do anything to them.

I might just plasti dip them and see what happens

I used paint marker on my pivots... it holds up well, it chips off only on the top of the heel peices where you push down to click out, but on the back part (where everyone sees it) it stays on well because nothing touches it and it looks dank.

I'd be careful with plasti dip because it might fuck with some of the moving parts

Low res pic but those are amazing haha

and that seems much safer than spray paint / whatever else one might try

How would spray paint be unsafe?

Honestly I don’t know if it is, it just seems possible, spraying paint all over your bindings seems sketchy, possibly getting paint in places it isn’t supposed to be

like I said tho idk it might be fine ?‍♂️ and I’ve ridden with plenty of people who spray painted their bindings

Well better late than never I painted one of my pivots pink (with plasti dip) i think it looks tight but huge pain in the ass. 6/10

Nice dude how long did it take? Zoomed out pics but from what I can see they look super well done

I spent probably 20 minutes taping it then over a span of 2 days applying coats of "plasti dip" and letting it dry, it needed a lot to cover up the yellow and orange completely and not have it show through.

Did you take them apart?

nope just painted them mounted and fully together just did some taping...Honestly, it would have probably turned out better if I had but I just didn't feel like it.

That’s ill dude, I think it turned out awesome. Might have to try it myself

If you’re feeling inspired to create, you should go for it ten times out of ten. It will either turn out and look sick, or if it doesn’t you’ll learn from it. Don’t hold yourself back bruh bruh, if you have an idea try it!

how are they holding up looking to do the same thing. Is it better if i do it before they mounted or after does it really matter?

They are holding up pretty well honestly (i peeled off the part where your heal clicks into the binding it was pulling up so I would advise just not painting that bottom section) if you can paint them before you mount them that would be ideal.

Other than the high friction areas where you are clicking in and out they look dope still. I’ll take a picture of them later.
