Is it chill?

Hello ns.

over the past couple of years I have watched people in the park throw down from a far. I’ve been so intrigued with the scene and have watched so many dope edits. I honestly don’t even know when I created ns account or how I heard about it because I have only spoken to like one “park person” in my life. I want to be involved in the culture in some way but I don’t think it’s skiing. I have a passion for filming but I also don’t have any good friends to film. I have a sony handycam with a strapped on fisheye lens but I haven’t used it on the hill once. I really want to create a part or an edit I just don’t know where to start. Is it chill to just walk up to some 29 year old skier that is throwing down and just badger him with filming. I am mostly done with skiing this year and with me getting a car soon I think I will be mostly at carinthia next year. If any group of people would like a part or filming in that area I would be very interested. I am 17 but just don’t like getting my front edge caught on a rail so I want to contribute to the culture through filming and editing parts.

I think most people would be down, but also don't be surprised if some people say no.

This reminds me of a time that I was skiing at a small hill, and the guy who did their marketing asked if he could film me with their new drone. I said no because I was all sorts of washed up that day and he got kind of butthurt

agree with the posts above if someone asked to film some of my runs I'd be happy and would feel a little better about my shit skiing

Hit up Ian Bryce, tell him Vinny said you could film him. That's my fuckin dog he's the nicest guy ever and has every trick both ways and is on the hill 24/7 cuz he's a coach, also knows all the other OGs. We used to film edits all the time so I can guarantee he still has some desire to stack park clips on a good cam

Don't even ask, just set up by a feature and record. Unless you are doing follow cams

I second this, every once in a while someone posts up at a feature and takes pics or clips at my local. No one will bother you, other than asking where they can find the clips.

hell yeah dude, I was the same at your age. I sucked compared to all of my friends so I sort of just held the camera by default but I learned to love it and now I'm doing freelance photography in my spare time. I've met a few really good skiers and made good friends on days where I just wander up to the hill with my camera and my VX and just ask people if they want clips. Most of the time people are stoked to be recorded and it's a great way to meet new people and get your name out as a filmer/photographer!
