IS BOREAL MAKING SNOW???

I don't think the temperatures would permit that right now. But if Eric sees this he'd be the man to answer that question

I think it has to be a maximum of around 28 degrees to make snow, even though freezing point is 32.

everything is set up and ready to go but we haven't had any good temps yet. It's 25deg in Truckee every morning and when I get to Boreal its 40+deg. It's always inverted this time of year. the weather we had lastnight and today is a good sign that the pattern is finally turning to winter. We should be making snow by the weekend or early next week.

Other updates...

all the new rails and boxes are finished with exception of c boxes/s box..they just need plastic and will be ready for opening day.

The super pipe dirtwork is about a week away from being finished..it's coming out so sick. this photo is a week old..the left side is almost done now.

I've been busy on alot of stuff so I've been slacking on keeping Jibassicpark.com updated..I'll get some new stuff up soon.

Eric,

I haven't rode Boreal since I was like 10. I am 24 now. You have me super stoked on the place. It is awesome to see the industry giving back to a segment of skiers/riders who have redefined it over the last 5-10 years. I'll be there opening day and a few more days on top of that. Keep up the good work, our sincere thanks.

Scott

The size of the dirt super pipe looks so crazy. I'm definately getting a pass there since Alpine will be lacking a pipe and 100 different jib features.

I heard it from someone who heard it from someones friend's brother who has a friend that knows someone's sister who's uncle works there. But yeah, whats the news on that Eric?

so boreal is gonna be jibtastic this year with 100 jibs and a bunch of jumps on their 10 degree slope and alpine's gonna be fagtastic with the same five rails same 5 good sized jumps and no pipe? Sounds like tahoe's gonna be going off this year!

^yeah, it'd definately be sick if they did, but i'll be kinda bummed if they take out the pipe, even though I aint shit in the pipe it's nice to take some floaty runs through to change the pace a little bit.

^Especially considering they DOUBLED the season pass price this year, i would expect at least some of that extra 200 dollars we all paid to show up in the park.

In regards to Alpine this winter..

yes there will be a pipe...but here's the deal. There is not enough space to have a full on legit superpipe and a legit park together on Kangaroo. Last year both were compromised in scale and quality. Pipe consumes a lot of time and resources compared to park/rails/boxes. The decision was made to start moving away from pipe at Alpine so that we could focus more on maximizing the park on Kangaroo, Nick's and the Ridge. Hence the big investment for pipe at Boreal..a new zaugg, a new cat, and many tens of thousands of dollars in dirtwork. A full on legit pipe would take up over 2/3 of Kangaroo..so then what about the park? The pipe will be shorter in length this year and a little bit more out of the way so that more snow and space and time can be put into the jump line. In addition to the existing jibs we are adding 3 more flat boxes, a house box, a flat/down box and a wallride. here's the total jib line up for this season:

(2)20ft rail

(2)20ft box

(1)24ft rail

(2)24ft box

(1)32ft rail

(1)32ft box

(1)40ft rail

(1)32ft flat/down rail

(1)32ft flat/down box

(1)36ft up/flat/down rail

(1)36ft up/flat/down box

(1)36ft flat/down/flat multi rail(can be set d/f/d)

(1)36ft flat/down/flat multi box(can be set d/f/d)

(1)wallride

The Ridge will be a total jib park.

Roo will be the 5 jump line with more technical jib setups.

Nick's will continue to be the pro line.

The terrain on Kangaroo(steep and not a lot of space) is what it is and we are using it in the manner most appropriate.

On the issue of pass prices. If you hadn't noticed but most if not all weekends the parking lot is full and cars are turned away by 10/11am. I know it sucks and I fought hard over the issue but in the end, basic economics of running a ski area were the deciding factor in pass pricing.

Bottom line however is this..Alpine as a mountain F#$%ing rules and is a heck of a lot cheaper than Squaw(the only other place that compares). And on the park front at Squaw..dont expect much there this year as the main guys from that crew now all work for me at Boreal.

hope this clears some things up.

^^Thanks Eric, that definately cleared some things up, and yeah, Alpine is still the hottest thing since double tipped skis in my mind.

nicks run in the begining of the season doesnt compare to anywhere in the country.. and i highly doubt big bear will be able to compete with boreal

so when is the new jibassic site ganna be up

to answer my own question , as of nov 6th there not making snow during the day. Im prob beeing Captain obvious but whatever.
