Is a soft padded ski bag enough for air travel?

should be fine, i always pack extra shit into my ski bag when travelling because they usually don’t care about weight and can be good padding if your paranoid
 
Youll be fine. I always just wrap my baselayers+jacket around my bindings just to be safe.

the main thing why I like the dakine roller is because I can fit 2 pairs, and it is a lot easier to get around with.

Where do they not care about weight? Often you can bet if that bag is over 50lbs or 25kg you're going to pay double at least.

have never had to pay anything when over 23-25kg limits. did 3 skis and some clothes skins and shoes and that was 27 something no extra pay. this is primarily european airlines not sure if significant difference

In my experience its kinda depended on airports/whos working. Ive had ppl bitch at me for it being overweight at the same airline ive taken it on at like 70 lbs without anything saying shit
