Is a 505 deadlift impressive to you guys?

Alright, not tryna be a douchebag or anything and flaunt my gym achievements, but I recently hit a 505 lbs deadlift. I am 17, turning 18 in July, and currently am chasing my baseball dream as a pitcher. I have an pretty good offer to Chico State for baseballa and a whole bunch of JC's have shown interest. Anyways, when I do tell people I deadlifted 505 lbs they seem to blow it off and try to 1 up me with their benchpress, knowing I am a pitcher and can't bench. Is this jealousy or is a 505 deadlift not that impressive. I am 6'2 230 and was using a trap bar with 5 plates on each side.

I'd say its pretty impressive if you were a year younger. At your age 500~ is a pretty average weight for someone who seriously lifts. But, if you're just a 3 day a week in the gym kinda guy yea i'd say you're doing pretty good. Is there any reason you've chosen dead lifting as your defining lift? Whats your squat? Obviously bench is out of the picture, but I would never pass judgement on someones weight lifting prowess based purely off their dead lift, it just doesn't give a whole description of the athlete.

i'd agree with this. plus a trap bar is easier than a barbell deadlift because you use more of your legs so its more like a squat than the latter. having an impressive bench is for douchebags. we're both 6'2 and its harder to have a crazy bench because of reach but no one will let you live that down. but an impressive squat is big time. get that 1000 club

Hell yeah, I'd say it's impressive. I didn't know pitchers lifted? And why is benching out of the question? I've been getting into powerlifting, but don't know much about lifting as an accessory to other sports. Do you use a belt?

Post over in the gym/lifting/workout thread!

Not gonna lie... Got a little less impressive for me when I got here. Most i dead lifted was 405 x 7 but I am 5'9 175 lbs and it was with a straight bar.

However... ThAts still a damn good lift and if anyone tells you it's not they're probably one of those kids who pretends not to juice. It's an impressive lift for your age especially man. Just don't get hurt.

Do it without the trap bar. I played college football (d3 but whatever) and we were never allowed to use the trap bar when deadlifting. It changes everything.

Is a plate not 45lbs where you're from..?

[(45 lb/plate x 5 plates) x 2 sides] + 45 lb bar = 495 lb total.

Hence him thinking that he's slapping on two 5ers.

Big ups my man. At your height and weight I'm assuming you are a pretty lean guy. I mean shoot, even working on legs to get those kind of results while doing everything else is impressive to me. Good on you man. Keep it up and build that number up.

Dont go around calling it a deadlift, because it's not.

Don't go around bragging about JUCO ball. Its like braggin about getting a 1800 on your SAT's.

stop going on newschoolers to boast your achievements, you know its kinda impressive you just want every one else to tell you it is

Don't scouts care more about how fast you throw or how good of a pitcher you are overall? What does lifting have to do with baseball offers?

Irrelevant insecureness snuck in there

Alright, not tryna be a douchebag or anything and flaunt my gym achievements, but I'm going to go ahead and be a douchebag and flaunt my gym achievements.

This thread has me kind of curious what I could pull with a trap bar. I've lifted 505lbs with a regular barbell. Unfortunately we don't have a trap bar in our gym.

I'd say the tail and and speed on your fastball is way more interesting to me than your deadlift considering you are training to become a better pitcher. It's great to have something to motivate you in the gym, but maybe your concerns are misplaced on this one.
