Is 130 flex too much for me?

I currently ride a pair of Full Tilt classics. I went to my local shop and was fitted into a pair of K2 Mindbender 130's with the BOA. They fit real nice but I'm worried about the flex being too stiff. I'm 160 pounds, 5"9, would rate myself advanced.

I tried on the K2 Mindbender 120s/100s but unfortunately they did not fit my foot as well, because they do not have the additional BOA on the liner that the 130s have.

So will I be sweet with a stiff 130 flex?

If you ski hard, i don't think 130 is unreasonable. I'm only 15 pounds heavier than you and I think my 120s might be slightly softer than I want.

You being in 130s isn't gonna be a big issue, even if they're slightly too stiff

You can always soften the flex by cutting the shell. A decent boot shop will know exactly how to do it or I can give you more advice here. Enjoy the boots those are a beast!

what is your shin length? Whats your squat and deadlift? Are you lean? Muscular? Or chubby? Are you fit? Do you have an active lifestyle?

if you are strong/muscular/active lifestyle it could work.

if you are sedentary in the summer/ chubby they will break your legs.

For FL3X boots? We should have them on the website by November from what I have been told. We have them in stock though so we just need to get them up online. Call customer service if you need some today.

Yes. I have the SC Ascendent, but you call them the SC Diverge…. Does this make a difference?

No exactly the same part. So yes hopefully they will be on the website soon or contact a dealer and they will be able to order them for you.

Thanks man. I think I need to re-visit another shop because the fitter I saw didn't ask anything about my skiing style or offer any alternative boots to try other than the 130/120s. As I mentioned in my post I came from Full Tilt Classics (99mm last) so I'm interesting in trying the Atomics which I believe have a narrower fit than the mindbenders? I had some trouble with heel lift in my FT's so I'm thinking I might need to take that into account with a fitter.

I'm actually in the Sea to Sky area, do you have any recs for fitters in Whistler?

If the boots fit you go for it, I’m a little bit lighter and shorter than you and ski a130 flex Lange RS, as long as your a decent skier and strong enough to flex the boot you’ll be totally fine

If you are in whistler go check out Comor. the Mindbender boa will be a good choice if you are looking for a single boot to do everything. The new boa shell has the ability to fit much snugger than the 99mm full tilt for sure and it’s a much better boot generally. If they were fitting pretty well I would say go for it. Just make sure you go boa don’t get a buckle boot at this point.
