ipods in the cold

is it safe to listen to ipods in the cold. and when i say cold i mean cold i live in maine so i can be riding in like -10 to -30 degree weather, on apple.com it says its not safe to bring them in the cold.is it okay?

 
the batteries dont work well. i had mine in -36, and it wouldnt work. you gotta keep them right up aghinst your body. but it isnt gonna hurt anything. you could always get a AA backup battery pack from ebay. they help, but dont solve the problem.

I ski with mine way up here in AK, and it works fine....but it hasn't been anywhere near -10 in a really long time...more like 36 degrees.

If you don't want it to break then i suggest you put it in your chest pocket, with like 3 or 4 of those hand warmers. Works great

Yeah my ipod went berserk when I brought it out in crazy heat, or crazy cold (i.e ski hill) So I just avoided that shit. Who needs to listen to music on the slopes anyways. If you have friends, sessioning with them shoul dkeep you entertained enough

yeah man, i left mine out in the van at -15 and it wouldnt start up in the cold...said the batteries were dead (real 75% full). 1/2 hour in room temp and it started up fine

the LCD can freeze and it like fades between images. with my rio and my cell phone- same thing

I had my 30 gig creative in the cold yesterday, and it wouldn't start up; it would turn on and then turn off again over and over, and none of the buttons worked. I ended up taking the battery out, which then fell out of my pocket. Now I'm down 40 bucks.

I used mine yesterday nordic skiing. It was in my Lilipod case and the LCD was a little sluggish, but it worked all day. It was about 10-17 degrees out.
