Ipod re-sets shuffle

I listen to a lot of music, mainly playlists on my Ipod 4th gen 32gb. Ever since I got it, I have been having one issue, which is that when I shuffle and it goes through like 15 songs or so on the playlist it will jump back 15 songs when I pause on and not played for a while.

Does anybody have this issue and can anybody help or suggest anything or is my Ipod just possessed and not working properly to spite me in insidious ways?

If you mean the Ipod itself? Then no, the issue that I have is pretty much that though, when I pause it, lock the screen and leave it for more than like 15 minutes or so it will jump back a ton of songs and I have 0 idea how this happens.
