Ipod question

so i'm finally gonna break down and get an ipod its between a used 20 gig or the new 30 gig video one but can you put any mp3s on it you want? apple dosen't have some lame deal where it only uses the itunes stuff or stuff from actual cds you own right?

no you can use whatever you want. the songs will only go on through itunes but that's it.
