yeah it really depends on what type of MP3 player, like i would pick a creative over an Ipod any day, but i would pick an Ipod over a like Rio or something

the shuffle is absolutely perfect for skiing. It has a good amount of songs on it, is super small, bombproof, and has a clip.... what more could you want?
 
im pretty sure ipod = mp3 player

anywho theres better mp3 players than the ipod but teh ipod is madd easy to work and compatible with everything
 
a screen...

i say go for a creative. i got a creative zen vision m and its sick. it has radio and plays so many different formats of movies and music (over the ipod). also has a brighter screen and better colors than the ipods do.
 
I agree that a screen could be nice, and is absolutely necessary on something that holds thousands of songs, but especially for skiing, if you just throw a sick mix on it where you like all of the songs the screen is pointless. The shuffle does its job, it is rugged and has nothing but the essentials, making it hard for anything to go wrong with it.
 
yeah, because they have warranties and are usually cheaper and better quality than something that isn't mass produced.
 
i guess for skiing that does sound pretty good then. if your gonna use it daily then i'd opt for something else. the shuffels are pretty sick though, pretty durable i like them alot. there tiny too.
 
if u want 2 lok like a rich kid,ipod.they are pretty good.if u want something that will last longer than 2 years,get a zune or something equivalent
 
ive had my ipod nano for a year almost now, and my shuffle for 5 months, and have yet to have a problem with either.

so fuck everyone who knocks ipods unless its personal experience. Everyone shit talks them, i havent had a problem. Its hooked up to my shitty computer (windows) and still no problems.

I went threw 5 mp3 players in less then a year. Sacked up, bought an ipod, then bought another one i was so happy with my first one.

 
Because other mp3 players are better for compatability and they let you use copied and naughty downloaded songs. iTunes is bollocks. iPods are poorly made. If you have a mac it automatically comes with iTunes and other iPod based software. So the only reason you would choose an ipod over another mp3 would be if you had a mac.

yeah i know but an iPod has made it self like a whole nother brand and poeple come up to you and say do you have an iPod not do you have and MP3 player
 
ok so my personal experience has been never owning an ipod but i have used them. from making a playlist in itunes to putting it on the ipod and to using the ipod itself. i dont like them compared to my zune. i skied all year with it and only has one scratch on it. (which is from some douche dropping it) its supper easy to use and if your used to itunes dont be worried zune soft ware is practically identical except making playlists is alot easier. the only down falls to the zune for me are 1)no voice recording system 2) a little on the bulky side but w/e (the screen is crystal clear) 3)it freezes sometimes but so does the ipod. you just have to press and hold the back button and u volume up button to restart it (takes like 10 seconds)
