is the ipod better than the dell dj. the 20GB DJ holds 9,900 songs and the 20GB ipod holds 5,000 the 40GB ipod holds 10,000 but is also 400$. what should i get??????

go with the ipod. and you can always get it replaced if you're unhappy with the battery life. i took mine up skiiing a bunch, and actually froze the lithium ions in my battery - didn't charge at all then (mind you this was in -50 degress Fahrenheit)

for 30 bucks, i 'swapped' it, and got a completely brand new ipod. you gotta love customer service.

i just got an i-pod and the inMotion portable stereo to go with it!

i dropped my ipod 8 feet don't ask why but it still works perfectly

My friend has a DJ and it is awesome, i considered getting one for a really long time but then my cash ran out. They say they can hold tons and tons of songs but that is assuming they are like wma 64 kbps or something which is crappy quality and you will almost always have mp3 files. DJ's are also incredibly durable, though my opinion is semi-biased because i have never had/used an ipod before.

^^^ tremblant tripper is right, its all subjective as to how many songs an mp3 player can hold...if you ripped the mp3's only at 32kbps then an mp3 player which holds '5,000 songs' could actually hold practically double that..but if they're say 320kbps..then it'd probably only hold about 2500 if that...the trick is is to rip them as AAC files at 128 kbps, this is equivalent to 192kbps in MP3 format, which is perfect cd quality with no detectable loss to the human ear...i have done a lot of research on music and mp3's etc..plus i'm the campus rep for apple at my college so trust me on this...ipod is the way to go, with all songs at 128kpbs in AAC format, that is the best quantity/quality ratio..kind of like a case of miller lite vs. a case of keystone haha
