Ipod not connected?

I have an ipod photo and i got some new music so i went to connect it to my pc (dont hate)though usb. i plugged it in and my ipod turned on like its supposed to but itunes didnt open, and the ipod doesnt show up in my computer

i tried restarting my comp and ipod, and using different usb ports but none of that worked

any ideas?
 
try restarting it and hold onto the center button and the play/pause button while its restarting and it will go into disk mode and that should fix it
 
how do i restart my ipod? by just turning it off and holding center button and play/pause and holding so it turns on?
 
nevermind

i figured out how to restart and put it into disk mode, now time to see if it updates/says its connected
 
no luck, ive tried every possible fix apple has to offer

luckily i bought best buys extended warranty so i can just return it and get the 80 gig ipod classic for free(except for tax)
