dude ppl bitching about "oh but i dont wanna fall on it" "oh i dont wanna scratch it" "oh its to heavy" is so stupid, i landed on my mini like 2 times and it never broke, it just hurt me more, the chance of u fallin on that one spot on ur body that the ipod is low, now stop bitching and get what u think u need, size wise

i droped mine in the snow 5-6 times, skied over it 2 times. droped it im my toilet once. and landed on a rail with it between my body (HIP) and the shit works like a charm. Dont give me this shit. Get a 20.
My 20 is fine, like it is fine to ski with, but I have fallen on it, and it did suck hardcore for me, the iPod also did bend along the metal, and I don't know if you parents will just buy you whatever you need, but I don't want to break what I spent 300.00 bucks on, I would rather spend 100.00 now and not have to spend 300.00 later to buy a new 20 gig...
i just bought a nano and im not sure if im going to ski with it yet or not. im not really afraid that the screen will break but im more afraid that it will just snap in half if i fall on it. if you've seen the nano in person you'll know what im talking about. in response to the thread, i think for skiing a shuffle would be better because
a.) its cheaper
b.) you dont really need the screen when its in your pocket
c.) you dont have to worry about changing the song because it would be a hassle anyways to go into your pocket
d.) if it breaks, its cheaper to buy a new one
e.) its small and durable and doesnt do much when you drop it on the ground
memory wise the nano, mini, and shuffle are not economically a good investment...for one hundred dollars more the new 20has a colour screen, same battery life, and over 3 times the capacity of the largest nano or mini (6 G), the shuffle is good only if you dont mind listening to the same song 5 times a day or your are only gonna be on teh mountain for 2 hours......i hvae a 20, but it bit the dust after a 2 hours trip under water in a backpack (i didnt know it was in there) but apple is sending me a new one, because for all they know it just stopped working.
hmm lets see the nanos/shuffle come in 1 GB, 2 GB or 4GB of shit? no because thats the size of the hard drive

Do you suffer from uncontrollable urges to spin, jib and jump off random objects??? if so... we can help. join the "uncontrolable urges to spin off things... while wearing shoes cult" today!!
hmm interesting, if i new how all the shit worked i would understand but, interesting...

Yeah basicially there is nothing spinning (like a harddrive) so less to break, and less power used. If the batteries are ok these days I think I will pick up a 60.
^why spend extra??? no one will ever need more than 20

Hahahaha. And cellphones will never take off, and computers will get bigger as technology progresses, and the world is flat, and sketchline will get friends.
I already have about 10GB in photos and 30GB in music.
u want it because its "cute" or "tiny" i cant even say how many chicks i have seen WITH PINK MINI IPODS so worthless they have like 40 songs and buy them cause they are a "cute accessory"

I have a mini and within the first week I filled it up, and not even half of my music is on it. My suggestion is get the regular ipod because as your music library grows you can put it on without having to take any songs off.
id be afraid id snap the nano. like really, a 20g and 40g are pretty indestrucatble as far as dropping and falling. but the nano.....damn id sit down on it and crush it.
nano looks sick man i want one i was just on apples webpage thats amazing and all ipods have color screens now thats crazy i just wish i waited to get mine wait i got it for free o well
Yeah, I just looked at the iPod Nano this weekend at the Apple store, definitely sick. I'm saving my money for a new car though so no toys for a while.
NS has become the official gathering of the world's dumbest people.
anyone have problems with the batteries...or have there ipods freeze in the winter at like 10 degrease?...im goin to cover it up with a ipod sock tho but anyone have a problem?
oh and for all u people who think u will snap the nano in half look at this http://arstechnica.com/reviews/hardware/nano.ars/1 turn the pages and read...the only main thing they broke from all that was the lcd screen and they did some hardcored damage on it that u will never do when ur skiing with it in your pocket
I got the nano today its nice it fits in my wallet. I broke my 20 Mt. Biking, So i wanted to try something new. Its super light and small so it will fit better it a small jacket pocket. But I am woried about braking it so i am going to pu it in a place that never hits the group
I baught a shuffle last night on Ebay for 85.00 New... So I got a sick deal and can sleep happily. iPods will come out every year, smaller, thinner, fast, better, and people will buy them as long as they want a good mp3....
It means that the 20+ have hard drives like your computer, just smaller. If they get knocked about as they are spinning the laser taht reads the disk will collide with it, causing either damage to the mechanical arm, or damage to the actual data, both of which are important.
In the nano/shuffle nothing moves, so as long as you dont snap/disloadge any of the components they're a lot more durable.
It doesn't need to be a hard knock. Just jumping up and down quickly as it's loading up will knacker it.
I think that between a shuffle and a nano def. a nano. And the biggest one you can afford.

^they arent that fragile. Jumping up and down with a HD MP3 player will not jack it up. I have been skiing with mine for about 3 years and I havent had any real problems with it. I even chested a rail with it once and there werent any lasting damage to it.

Worrying is like a rocking chair. It gives you something to do, but in the end, it doesnt get you anywhere. Write that down.
I have a 15gb (pretty much the same thing as a 20 as far as design) and I skied with it all last year.....the battery life on it is now about 1 hour, theres a huge dent on the back of it, and sometimes it won't even turn on. Im not ever gonna ski with one of those things again. Im gettin a shuffle. as for the nano, it might be good for skiiing, if its more durable than the 20s, but its got a flash drive instead of a hard drive so it might be sturdier.
