I just bought an 80 gig ipod classic from a friend who is a mac user, i am a PC user. my friend has 75gigs worth of music on this ipod and id LOVE to get some of that music off before i sync it with my itunes. however seeing as his ipod was for a mac, i cant use idump until i reconfigure the ipods drive for a PC.

any ideas, thoughts? id love to get some of this music off before its erased.

thanks

Just use iDump to get the songs off of the iPod, then reconfigure the iPod to PC. Songs are MP3 files which are compatible on Mac and PC, so the songs you took off of the iPod should be able to go right back on that iPod.

grab an external or just use the ipod as one and go over to your friends and take all the music you want to put on your home computer.

yeah just use idump on one of the computers and go that way. or possibly set up the library sharing and import each others songs

no no i CANT use idump because the ipod i bought is configured for a MAC. i have a PC. and if i configure it then the ipod is erased.

config for pc=no more music.

so any other ideas?

okay well what about importing through itunes library sharing ? thats what i do with some people and its all good. u just need to use the same account as the person on different computers. im telling you it works

borrow a friends macbook and load it onto there, transfer it onto a hard drive back to your computer? if you let your friend keep some copies of the music they might just be stoked to help you out.

you go into "my documents" then options, then folder setting or soemthing. Then you gotta click show hidden files and folders, then go to "my computer" then "ipod" or whatever its called. There should be a transparent folder named ipod control or something. click that, look around and find folders called "01,02,.. etc" there should be music in each of those. Make a new folder on desktop named music or whatever, then copy all the "01,02..etc" into that new folder, drag said music from the new folder into itunes and you should have it. Just make sure you put that new folder in a spot where you wont move it cause then itunes will lose the file and wont play it.

that may sound confusing but it might work, im taking a guess cause thats what i did to rip music off my ipod.

If you get more confused check youtube for the problem, seriously there are 100's of tutorials out there for this problem. Hope i could help
