IPOD HELP!!! pLEASe!!

HELP ME. I have 2 fat problemS with my ipod and i need any help or advice you got thanks

1(First problem): so i was syncing my ipod right and then like blam it randomly stops and then disconects then it shows it connected again, but when i look at my music i lost 1500 songs! no lie. and then i look at my memory and i have 12 gigs of that orange "other" stuff. i mean wtf is that stuff?? I called the lady and she said it could possibly be a virus on my ipod. wow. so any body know what 12 gigs of other could be?

2: Now she said i have to restore it, but i have my friends itunes on it and he moved to bend, oregon and if i restore i'll lose his music. Are there any programs out there that like save the music i have on my ipod to my itunes or something? I dunno, i just dont wanna lose his music.

ask any questions i need your help.

use senuti, ipod copy, or sharepod to copy your songs to comp for pc anyway. it probably copyed your songs to its disk drive cuz and that would show up as orange. you could try to rescue it if you turned disk drive on and copyed all your music out of the file andput it back into itunes.
 
Senuti is good for macs, but i use music rescue for PCs. The only catch is the free version has a pop up every 50 songs you import. I put a paper weight on the enter/return key, and then it can import any amount of songs with no trouble, you just cant use your computer while it imports
 
i had 26 cds worth of music because my 30gb ipod was filled and i just wanted to back it up, now i have a 1 terrabyte (1000 gig) external harddrive that i have all my music/movies/games and shit on their...just back up everything onto cds/e hardrives
 
dude same thing happened to me...... i had like 14 gigs of other on my touch after it deleted all of my songs..... then it wouldnt connect back to my computer. I took it to best buy and they sent it in on my warranty
