Ipod help....need help

my dad just threw me his 2 gig ipod cuz he never uses it..........but i have no idea how to get hius music off it, i deleted all the music in itunes but it stays on his ipod when i connect it to itunes....

question number 2........all my music is on limewire and i want to somehow transfer those music files to itunes but i cant drag and drop them and i have no idea how else i would do it......

anything suggestions would be nice

1. Restore the ipod.

2. File -> add folder to lib -> find folder with music -> click open.
 
first problem: sync your dads iPod with a blank playlist and everything will be gone

second problem: go to file -> add to library

then select the files.
