IPhone plan question

I might plan on getting an iPhone, i am doing research about it, all the pros, cons, and everything inbetween. I do have one question though. 1. If I do a family plan with my family once our contract is up, which is soon, will I not be able to get an iPhone if other family members get other phones? since the plan is different? I dont think the rates apply to both but im not sure. maybe you guys know for those of you who DO have one. Thanks

As far as I know from talking to the guy, you can be apart of the family play. You have to get the iphone data plan on top of your calling plan.

Yeah, just buy it and software unlock it...then add an unlimited data plan to your plan so you can use the internet.

Because the way I understand it, they make you sign a new contract when you get iPhone...but if you add a dataplan and software unlock it (check out iPhonesimfree), you can use your current SIM card.

I have an iPhone. I was an Cingular customer already, so it was really easy to switch. I just entered some information, and I just had to add $20/month to my current plan to use the iphone. No new contract. Very easy and simple. couldnt be happier with my iphone.

Are you sure man...cause according to the ATT site (I'm an ATT wire customer also) the iPhone requires you to restart your contract from the day you activate the iPhone...

I'm waiting until Jan. to see if they give us a 16gig model with 3G, GPS, and video capture capability...how can Apple claim this phone is 5 years ahead of anything else when it only has a 2 megapixel camera that doesn't record any video? Seriously...

Oh and the whole thing where you can't address a text message to more than one contact is also ludicrous. They need to fix it.

Yea positive. at least thats what happened to me, it was part of a currently existing family plan so maybe that played a part in it. but dont listen to me, i dont want to be blamed for someone getting ripped off.
