IPhone on skis

Hey, havent ever taken my iPhone with me on skis. Can it possibly break when i ski? How about the temperature etc?

Thanks :)

don't listen to these fucks, rookie. It will be fine so long it doesn't get damp or wet. You make the call about that. Given the fact (assuming iPhone 4) that it has helicopter/high speed train glass on the front and back and a steel frame, it should be totally fine. It will take a gnarly hit.

Throw it in a Ziploc bag, and don't take it out until you're off the hill. Use it through the bag, it's like cheap insurance

Don't put it in your zipper pockets in pants. If you fall on it, good chances are screen will shatter. If you tend to fall on your chest area a lot (not sure why..?), don't bring it onto the mountain. And use above comments, case with a plastic bag.

pointless story/ I lost my Blackberry 4 times last season, and it got returned to me within like 1 day to 1 hour. (I'm not an idiot, Burton jackets zippers are rubbed with butter before giving them to the public and unzip a lot.)/Fin

I dropped my iphone during an urban session, it spent 2 hours under the snow and was skied over multiple times. I also skied with it many times at mt.washington where it is super humid and always was wet. It worked for 2 years until I threw it at my friend by accident and now the screen is broken.

Personally if I'm skiing park I leave my phone in the lodge. I have been through too many phones. But if you're just shredding groomers and regular skiing it should not be an issue.

I ski with mine basically everyday in my chest pocket. I have a hard case for it though...but I just face the screen toward my body. I've never had any problems with it

When I had my 3g it lasted through 2 seasons which was about 150 days on the mountain. it got soaked, drilled on rails took gnarly jump crashes and it just had a line going through it after a while.... it just broke :( so i guess i will find out how tough the 4g is this year...

I have a 3GS with a $15 otterbox rubber case. I keep it in my chest pocket with the screen facing in. It's fine.

My spring softshells don't have chest pockets, so I often don't ski park with my phone.

i just broke my 1phone 4 screen on saturday skiing. and i have had iphones freeze but start working when they warm up again. you should be fine with a case and screen protector though. just keep it in a tight pocket, that was my mistake.

night sesh at my mountain, lost my ipod and realized like 45 minutes later. Skied for about 25 minutes, right about to give up because of the shitty lighting not helping me out at all, and i found it right before i was about to give up. worked perfectly for about another week until it just shit out on me

i see what you did there.

but really. just wear a fanny pack under your tall tee and put it in there. it's hard to get out, but it's safe.

I've never broken a normal ipod skiing but I've broken lots of phones. And I've broken an itouch skating. So yeah you could probably break it pretty good.

I do the same thing, I would definitely recommend an OtterBox though, they are bomb proof. if you're really worried about moisture put it in a ziploc. I have hit pretty hard with it in my pocket too; knuckled a 35 foot kicker, bounced down the majority of the landing (with the phone in the chest pocket). the only problem I had with it was my headphones had unplugged. Just be sensible with it and you will be fine. I often check it on the chair lift, just make sure that it is dry before you put it in your pocket again.

just keep it on an inside pocket or use silica gel. whenever I film i put my camera in a bag and under my coat right before i take my skis off, then go inside, let it slowly warm up (like a few min) then take it out. used silica gel if you are really worried, but i've never had problems. also i go all the time with an ipod, and same thing, just keep it on an inside pocket, its the drastic and quick change in temp that causes condensation

mine gets wet all the time when i ski and its fine, i guess one time the sound stopped working (I dropped it off the chairlift and it was into slush) but i just popped it on the dash board in my car and it was fine.
